I bought a used warn M8000 winch and never had to "use" it for intended purposes for several months however when I blew out two tires a few months ago while working on a ditch in Bridgeport I was in need of winching to get out without causing further damage to my jeep, well upon hooking up to my buddies bumper and started to engage the winch it pretty much said " no " what it did was pull me until the weight of the jeep was starting to incline up the ditch and basically it just stopped however id DIDNT let go. I ended up just powering out and moving on.
recently I tore it apart and cleaned it up REALLY good and re-assembled it with the recomended lubricant... I gave it another try and STILL same thing no power once the full weight is on this time I was trying to winch straight up on a tree to pull the front wheels off... Ive tried this hundreds of times before with my old winch with no problems...
here is my setup
warn M8000 with the solenoid box relocated to the engine compartment for aesthetics The wiring I used to go from the solenoid box to the winch motor is some 220v wire from a extension cord... the thickness of the wire itself not including the shield is a little thicker than a pencil.
so my dilemma is what is wrong the motor or the wiring? orrrr something TOTALLY different?
Thanks for all your help in advance!
