My jeep is stock ATM but i need some extra lighting. do you think a CARR light bar with 4 rigid industries duallys will look bad since my jeep is still stock? My friends give me shit saying it will look stupid cause i dont have a lift.

Trust me, it won't look stupid. They are just envious. Go for it

That's right, it's your jeep and I have never seen a set of "rules" on what a custom Xj should look like. The newest street rod fad, "rat rod", well I think that just a bunch of off roaders bringing it to the street, anything goes!!

That's open for trail and error. I have 2 spots on my front bull bar and 4 driving lights on the roof rack. If throw enough light at it you won't notice the glare off of the hood!

i think i might just do 4 spots at different angles

What is dumb is putting lights on a vehicle for looks alone. If you have a use for them then who cares what people say. I get crap from the scoop on my hood but I put it there for a reason.

That is why I love the jeep nation, they are no rules unlike the rest of the auto world !

I have used spots and didn't like them. The beam was too narrow. I understand about the deer, the wife has nailed three of them in her car. One of the great advantages of LEDs, not that I am advocating them, is that they split the difference. The time I really wanted off road lights recently, they spots would have been useless on a narrow road with tight switch backs. That is what I will go for when I add lights.

I upgraded my headlights to IPF with 80/110 watt IPF bulbs. I see everything! Might be a better all the time solution, unless you already have the light bar and lights. I did a write up on the IPF install.

I run the old IPFs and like them too.

IPF has a dual range driving light that is supposed to do well short range and long.

I personally got tired of buying high end lights only to break them.
Bouncing them off trees, rocks, ect.
I took a chance and started using these:

In my opinion they are just as bright as the more expensive lights I use to buy (KC's, Hella's PIAA's) and when I break em, It's less than than $40 to replace them.

I used to have the harbor Freight lights on my old Renegade, they worked great, and they are cheaper to replace, Kept smacking trees with them on the trails out east.

I converted the plug over on my low beam lights and replaced them with the high beams, they throw enough light out there yet as far as I know wont blind oncoming traffic.

I think if I were going to purchase a set of lights and had the money... I would pick up the Rigid LED setup.. Way less drain on your charging system/battery as well as some pretty decent output!! But that is just me.. and I will most likely be hitting up those Harbor Freight lights for my bumper once I get it.. since I don't have the money for the Rigid lights..

What is the best way to mount lights? I have seen aftermarket bars that mount on the bumper or roof or A pillar and Ive seen people just drill holes through their luggage rack support and mount them there. I mainly want them to watch for deer and for those people who demand on driving around with their brights on constantly.

A light bar is the best. This allows the lights to shine down on the road and create less shadows. But a word of caution, if you flash those driving lights at someone, the PoPo does not take that kindly. You might want to check into the laws of your state. Most require you to keep them covered in the highway. I am not saying you shouldn't, just a word of caution. I fully understand the deer thing. We had herds of them where I used to live.

ON this site under Cpttuna Mods, you will find pics of lights I made. Using the standard tractor light,I removed the standard sealed beam and replaced it with a 100 watt sealed beam(aircraft landing light). the cost was about $20 each at the time. It worked for me. It's about what YOU want and how much you want to spend.
