Ok guys so some of you may know if you follow my build thread that my xj is on its last stint with me. Well I just found a 2000 xj that needs a motor and front fender and headerpanel. One of my friends has it and it originally had a 4.5 lift Im it but I told him I didn't want that since I have a long ARM setup on mine now. The rest of this jeep is immaculate except for the needs in the front.

The scenario-
Swap my 98 engine into the 2000
Put all needed parts on it from mine presently fender etc
Install my long arms lift and 33s on it along with swapping out the lp30 for my highpinion30
It already has an 8.25 in the back with a LSD in it that works.
The reasons-
Mine is having some issues with leaking inside and just general shit for spots of the body.
The price on the 2000 is 700 without the lift is this worth while? I think it is any thoughts on other things about this?
I may just swap the motor and trans
I paid 2 grand for my 98 when it was stock so I think its a good deal. BTW the 2000 is silver its sexy lol

I would think that it would be worth the purchase.. Since most of your issues that you are having, have to do with the rust and such.. As long as the 2000 doesn't have that.. I would say it would be a worth while purchase... Then sell the left overs of yours for some "play money"...

Most of mine will either be used in this one or a few things kept n sold but mostly it will go to scrap. All the rust has been repaired on mine its just mostly stuff like the exterior is a bit messed up in some spots and the roof leaking from who knows where and there's some other stuff that is questionable at best but theres a long story behind some of it lol. So if anyone does want a few parts and I do this let me know asap b4 it ends up in the crusher

Sounds like you have the Plan ! I'd bet that is a fair price where you are. Down here they go for up to 4k if they run at all. I've looked at about five with the wife now (for her) none were under 2500 and all had serious problems right out of the box. I have found one that's available to me for 650. but she doesn't trust that it will all work.

It's official I did buy it! I have been researching the swapping from distributor to coil pack. And overall it seems not bad just install cam sensor where distributor went and mount coilpack. Now does anyone know how to index a coilpack?

It is indexed off the signal from the CPS

Ok but doesn't the cam sensor need to be indexed?

I thought you were talking about the distributorless ignition. Yes, you have to set it at top dead center and then time the distributor. Tony has a thread on this somewhere when he checked his. PM him.

I'm talking about converting the distributors environment to coil pack and I thought you had to index the cam sensor using the toothpick method.

Well I can't find the post, but here's the picture!

As I recall the distributor is NOT adjustable, so if this hole wasn't lined up you'd have to pull and re-stab the distributor until the holes lined up.

I was having a weird issue with the Performance Distributor Firewire kit I was trying to install on my 1998. When I installed the Firewire plug wire from the coil to the distributor it would run really crappy. If I put a "stock-ish" plug wire cable in there it would run fine. I was checking everything and this was one of the things I checked. As you can see it's lined up.

Eventually I found the issue, and $40 CPS I bought off of ebay. Putting the OEM CPS back in solved the issue. Don't ask me why.

I now have a new Chrysler CPS installed with the original as the backup.
