I was planning on replacing the hazard switch on my jeep but after taking the steering off I saw what was behind it and thought to myself if I take that off I'm going to have a really hard time putting it back on specially without the right tools.

So my second thought was why not plum in a switch for my hazards elsewhere, like in this pretty hole where my FM transmitter switch used to be.

My last thought was "but I don't know how to that" so that's where my question comes in.
Does anyone here know how I would be able to add a separate switch so my hazards will work again?

By the way I do not know exactly what happened to the switch, one day I just turned them on and smoke came out of the steering column and stopped working. This is all they do now aside from blowing my fuse.

Are you sure its the switch and not the flasher its self?

It looks daunting but getting that plate off is easy, all you need is one of these: Amazon.com: OEM 25134 Steering Wheel Lock Plate Remover: Home Improvement@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/319151dFM0L.@@AMEPARAM@@319151dFM0L
and a flat head screwdriver.

I also think using a different switch would be easy enough, just figure out which wires go to the hazard switch, cut them, splice in extension wires to the desired location, add the new switch and done!

Most likely! The smoke came out from right behind steering wheel. I'm not sure where the flasher is though. I would assume under the dash

Cool and it's not to expensive. I'm gonna do a little research first on adding the switch elsewhere and then decide which way to go.
Thanks
