does a fuel injected 2.8 from a firebird have a different cam than the old carbed 2.8 that i pulled out??? i put my old intake and carb on the replacement 2.8(f.i) and i am having running issues. timing is as close to correct as i can get it at this time and the carb has been went thru top to bottom. any help???

As far as I know the cam is the same. If there was any difference it would be only a small amount. I wouldn't think the cam would be your problem

my mechanic said the rochester 2es carb has always had problems and was wondering what to do.... f.i. leaves room for many errors, i have deleted all smog and emmisions where do i go from here?? the longer it sits the harder it is to get it to run. everything is still stock but im debating on something in the area of propane..... any ideas out there?? i dont have welders and torches to make this one hella off road truck but it does have 4:11's and 31's. im gettin stuck and low on dinero

Does the (fi) stand for fuel injected ? If so that may be an issue as far as the ports in the head linning up correctly with the carburated manifold , possably creating a internal vac leak. Need more info on the doner engine.

engine came from 87 firebird 2.8 fuel injection (f.i.) the engine ran very well in the firebird, i pulled all my drive acc. and swapped over, intake bolted right up, exhaust matched, when i first started it up timing was 180 out fixed that, took to a local shop he fixed further.( could go 15mph before shop- now goes 35-ish) idled smooth i mean purrrrred but just dont GO!

Well its not gonna be the intake or heads, cause the heads are the same. I seem to think its either your carb, or perhaps a dirty fuel filter, or the fuel pump.
