When we bought this house 12, umm, 13 years ago, we bought a microwave for the kitchen. We bought the same model they were charging $750 for when you had it included with the house, but we got it from a retail walk in store for about $450.

After several years of trouble free service we had a problem. One of the three interlocking switches just plain melted. I bought a replacement for about $15, it really isn't a $15 switch, but oh well.

That switch melted! Not surprising, since they are just running too much current through it. This time I started just repairing the switch. It involved a straw, some folding and positioning of contacts so it would work.

The handle broke for the 2nd time, and well it was just time to order some replacement parts.

So I ordered a door handle, fortunately I was able to find it on Amazon for $35 instead of the appliance parts place that had them for $55! This ISN'T a $35 handle much less a $55.

While I was at the appliance online store I went ahead an ordered a couple of the interlocking switches. $15 each.

They arrived...

I think I see a problem with their shipping methods that might be the reason for their high part prices! :shocker:

Flat Rate USPS box for those items- $5.20.....
Insulated envelope, probably half that.
Not enough company's use USPS.......they should.

Meanwhile, gives you an excuse to use your grill !

Yeah either someone is asleep at the wheel in shipping or no one was available to work in shipping except the manager. :D

Either way, USPS has some excellent options for shipping.
I'm using them more & more when possible.

:smiley-laughing021:Looks like voters aren't the only lazy ones. I like the USPS for most shipping.
