I will post my Camper build up here as it's more fabrication and it's not a jeep build up  I'm in the right thread area
As i said this is a never ending camper build and it's a bit of laugh with my mate and club down here as it's taken that long to build 4 years and counting :banghead:
But with xmas trip coming up this year (nine weeks off work ) it has to be done
Ok way way back when it all kick off I pick up a burn down caravan just wanted to tank, wheels, treg hitch etc, but after get it home was to good to wreck so started turn this into my camper

http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr164/greenojeep/ebony148.jpg
Stage one was cutting it down to fit the camper top and build up the sides to 1055mm and build a big toolbox/fridge area on the front
cut down down
http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr164/greenojeep/trailer005.jpg
starting to make up the sheet work

Now this is when it was pushed to the back of my shed for 12mths due to work and moving house:bang:
12mths on and in new house and done some more to her
finished of the sides and rear around tail light

http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr164/greenojeep/trailer019.jpg
http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr164/greenojeep/trailer020.jpg
But then again it all come to a stop due to strikes at work and thinking of off loading it and buying a new ready made one
6 mths on and still have her and time to pull my finger out and get this thing done
Will keep updating this may help get this thing done
Yesterday pulled the bottom off the camper top to get ready to frame it up with 20x20 3mm to fix it to trailer

Thanks again guys yes I think it was a great platform to start with and the cost was $700 for the old caravan ( with the hitch, wheels and tires ,brakes, brake controller, water tank, 4 x legs , and it has independent suspension ) I think it was a good buy
As for the independent suspension I don't know if I'm going to keep it as it's independent on leaf springs ? never seen it before what do you guys think keep it or just go full axle

Had a good weekend on the camper got the floor in, it's 12mm Marine Plywood that I had to special order because it was to wide (1285 mm) :bang:
http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr164/greenojeep/IMG_2467.jpg
With the floor in I tacked up the tail gate will weld it home this week and sheet her up
http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr164/greenojeep/IMG_2472.jpg
Then it was onto the tool box top I'm going to carry fire wood on this so made it out off 4mm Checker-plate then fab up some boxing under it for gas lifts and more reinforcement just need to put a top rail on it now

...... As for the independent suspension I don't know if I'm going to keep it as it's independent on leaf springs ? never seen it before what do you guys think keep it or just go full axle .......
Leave it alone until you have finished I reckon .... Then see how it behaves when towed loaded ... and have a spotter follow you to see how it tracks on the road.
It is only slipper springs ... and just going by the photos .... there doesnt seem to be any bush/whatever at the chassis, centre pivot - to allow for the differences in arm length/angles - created with spring compression/rearward movement.
However ... Having said that ... If it was a factory made caravan ... then someone - must have worked out all the angles of the dangles ... so that its functional ;)
If you dont like it's road manners when its hooked up and loaded ... just bang a full axle/shackle springs under it ... or maybe fab up a coupla trailing arm, wishbones for coils/stub axles - and still have independant suspension ??

Hey guys, those look like track bars to me. Dave, I would check that track bar and see if it looks factory. It looks to me like it would bind since you have a solid axle in between. But maybe there is something I am not seeing in the pics.

4.3LXJ , It,s a bit hard to see in the photo's but it has stub axle on each side not a full axle will take some more photo's on the weekend for you
It looks like it's all factory and well made just a bit different

Spent the last couple of day's cleaning up all the weld and putting some rust coating on them
I'm going to have to offset the top (tent part ) as the trailer is to wide for the tent I've got . ( I already had the tent top from old trailer )
New frame work for tent top
http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr164/greenojeep/TrailerBuild001.jpg
http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr164/greenojeep/TrailerBuild002.jpg
It will sit over this side about 200mm more then the other side, I don't know what else I can do as the tent top has to open up into trailer bottom

Mate, can't you space it evenly? Go do a recky at a camper trailer store.

Yes mate done a few recky but the tent has to fall over the edge of the trailer at 90* :bang:
Going to build out the frame and put a pole box up the side

Some more update on the trailer
After all these years I have finally got the trailer to a stage where the body and frame work is done ( just a bit of cleaning up here and there to do )
As she is as of today

http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr164/greenojeep/TrailerBuild009.jpg
http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr164/greenojeep/TrailerBuild010.jpg
I'm only going to run a rail down the left hand side as this is where the 3 x 20ltr spare fuel/water jerry can are going , And down the right hand side the Gas bottle and 2x 100amh battery are going ( going to make up some box's for them)
http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr164/greenojeep/TrailerBuild007.jpg
Spare wheel carrier is going on the front there is room for a 33x12x15 spare same size as my xj runs or two 31x10x15 one to the front and to the back of mount
http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr164/greenojeep/TrailerBuild009-1.jpg
http://i480.photobucket.com/albums/rr164/greenojeep/TrailerBuild004.jpg
The frame work for the tent lifts open to the right hand side of the trailer and can be open when the tent is up or down ( I think it can :) )

Looking good.. I think the hammered gray would look good on the trailer... And don't feel bad.. I'm sure every wheeling trip anyone takes.. is in lou of things they should have been doing elsewhere.. As long as you had a good time wheeling, which it looks like you did.. that's all that matters!!

Trailer is looking good.. I really like that color/paint!! I saw a XJ back half being hauled down the road as a trailer today.. was thinking about getting something like that with the newer rearend that will match my XJ... and maybe put the tent on top of it.. just lift it the same as my XJ is... and pick up a set of matching rims/tires for it.. If I had skills to fab/weld I would build something similar to your setup though.. maybe one day!!
