They called it a jeep but I am really not so sure about it lol...
Still an interesting vehicle that we ran across during our vacation.
This one is located in a Army Surplus Warehouse off I15 around Idaho Falls ID

It aint no Jeep , thats for sure, here's some info on it :

The Munga (Mehrzweck UNiversal Gelandewagen mit Allrad Antrieb) was built in the mid/late 1950s and the 1960s by DKW ~ Auto-Union ~ Audi, as a light four wheel drive for the German army. Vanderveen (1989) reports that early models were powered by an 897cc motor (40hp) and that very early models had part-time 4WD. From 1958 production Mungas used a larger engine. There were 4, 6 and 8-seater variants. The Munga was eventually replaced by the VW Iltis 4x4.

I thought it looked a lot like a VW "Thing" from the 70's, so this explanation makes sense to me.

It may not be a Jeep but I still want one. I would be awesome with a VW diesel in it, for crawling.

Amazing sometimes ... the things you can find in some places.

I think the fella that wrote the sign needs a slapping tho :smiley-laughing021:

Lots of interesting history associated with the Auto-Union vehicle brand .... the four connected rings arent really an Audi badge as such.

thanks for the details ;)

I think Jeep ..... is a just a lot easier to spell than the big words .... LandRover or Pinzgauer or Gelandewagen .. :D

$5 says ... only the license plate was prison made ;)

I don;t know anyway it looked cool lol

That it does ... thanks for the pics.

Good one Wayne. Now why didn't I think of that. Maybe I am too PC.

But just so you know, you can contract with the prison system and have things made for the outrageous sum of $.50 per hour. All you have to do is supply materials and transprotation.

Good job you didn't .. ;)

Otherwise I'd be calling you - a dumbarz for not reading two little words on the bottom of the plate ... Instead of you know who .. :D
