I've had a few scratches from my very limited off road excursions. Today I thought I'd break out the polish and electric polisher I bought to bring the 99's paint back to life.

I was shocked at the results.

nice job Tony, you didn't burn through the paint.

I remember my Dad telling me that I shouldn't wax a vehicle very often because it dulls the shine. Do you think that doing this polishing just removed the ONE wax job I've done on this XJ since 1998?

yep, Rubbing compound removes anything that was there before you rubbed it out. Just apply a new coat of wax. cars should only be waxed about once a month, between times use a california duster to remove dust (this info is from a buddy that details cars for a living).
