Wife and I were talking tonight around supper. I almost couldn't believe what she said. She had read the post of our recent trip to Fordyce today. Complimented me on he story, which is high praise from a journalist. Then she asked me to teach her to be a spotter. So I said OK! We will start with hand signals, which of course I will post later. But this is just getting better and better.

Did you recently purchase a large insurance policy? Hey someone has to ask the hard questions! :watermelon:

Congrats on that one!

You probably already know, but use patience. I remember the first time my wife directed me backing up in the woods with a 30' trailer behind the Suburban. She totally messed it up. She was expecting to get yelled at. But, it didn't happen. I just stopped the Suburban and grinned.

x2 get the little Motorola family talk radios. They work great for talking to your spotter.

Oh yes. She is brand new to this. We will take it slow and I will let her drive in some of the more difficult ones while I spot her. I don't intend to make her competent in extreme technical situations. But she will get to participate.

My wife is my spotter too but we had to learn together. This is our first off road vehicle so neither me or her knew much about it.
I'm not gonna lie, at first there was a lot of arguing but we do pretty good now.
She is actually a better spotter than I am.

Actually I think I will let her drive while I spot her. Then she will get the idea a little better that way. Besides, she will have to do what I tell her for a change:rolleye0012:

Just above whiskey flats (where the worlds largest gold nugget was found, tripped over by a drunk miner 54lbs) , the turn off is about 15min from my house nice drive and Whiskey flats has a nice climb up she could practice on also and swim / cool off in the river !!
