It's all custom, the lights are CJ, turn signals stock but reshaped and turned.
The complete, up to date, unedited build thread can be found on another site,
pm me if you'd like the link. Unfortunately, the build thread is toooo extensive to post to '2' sites, too time consuming.....and of course parts of it are unsuitable for family viewing.....

....and of course parts of it are unsuitable for family viewing.....

Thought that was common with most XJ builds....blood, long stings of expletives, hammers, wrenches, other tools being slung in to the pasture, stuff being dragged outside and shot, excessive alcohol consumption after removing the transfer case for the @#$%@#! time, more expletives while looking for said tools slung into pasture because you need them now, tearing off your clothes to remove the wasps you ticked off that built the mother of all nests under your XJ while it was sitting....

you know, just your normal R rated XJ build. :rolleye0012:

Yeah I remember that. It was crazy. If you click on the little box that says you are 18 then you need to be a responsible adult and make sure your kid doesn't have access to Jeep porn.

Let's see, bent up, not down. OK, what is the story behind it? :D

SamanthaXJ
09-24-2013, 09:05 PM
Let me be clear, I was not there when it happened....

But the story is my husband went to a friends burning man party and they (probably were all drunk) and thought that tying the "burning man" structure to the middle of the roof rack was the best way to stand it up. Needless to say he thought it was funny, I did not.

My Debbi-Downer of a friend told me I shouldn't go out in Franken-Jeep because of "how old he is". Excuse me? :P He is mechanically and physically sound. I don't see any reason I can't do regular trails. He does some pretty hard core dirt biking so I think he's picturing full on mudding and climbing.

*le sigh* Need to do some research for places to go. :xj-green:

Purchased 0n 1/25/14 from a used car dealer. All I know about it's history is it was a trade in in North Dakota.

It's my first 4x4.:headbag:

I paid $1800 plus tax and fees...

222k Miles
4.0L AT 4WD
-Used car dealer replaced leaky radiator with new one and filled with long life antifreeze.

Not planning to do anything spectacular; just want to make it 100% reliable and make it last.

Has some rust at top of A pillar passenger side; underside very clean for a '95 IMHO.

http://pointsnorthphotography.com/JEEPIMG/Day1-04.jpg

http://pointsnorthphotography.com/JEEPIMG/Day1-05.jpg

List of plans:

New Battery(Check)-Interstate MT-58 Installed Day 1

Lower Radiator Hose Heater(Bought-should be installed Tomorrow)

All fluids/lubricants/filters. Probably will change belts, thermostat and hoses as soon as it warms up.

Driving/Fog Lights-(I'm a volunteer firefighter and need to be able to respond to fire calls in any conditions)

High-End alternator; cost is a factor but suggestions on brand/model are certainly welcome.

Also considering a dual battery set up and maybe an internal charger/maintainer with an (Shoreline) Auto Ejector for reliability...

Wheels and All-Season(Northern Minnesota means 5-7 months of snow) Tires

Maybe Paint (Mainly to slow rust down)

Tow Hooks or a good used Winch for pulling fellow Minnesotans out of the ditch...

Other than that; can't think of anything else right now...open to suggestions. Again will be my daily driver and needs to be 100% reliable to get me to work and to the station for those '2am and its -30 degrees below' emergency calls...

I went with a 3" Rough Country front spring AAL kit. Wouldn't do it again. I would go with an OME 2 1/2" complete kit and stay with 235/60-16 or switch to a 15" rim and go 233/75-15 in a P metric or maybe just an XL rated tire. I'm having drive ability issues and a jarring ride. Also plan on at least a 1" tfer case drop, and a new track bar would also be a good idea. In any case WAIT and do your homework before diving into a lift kit because you can afford some springs!

As I always say. " If you can't be a good example, be a horrible warning!" Or something like that. I'm old, I can change my gems of wisdom around for each telling if the story. 😜
PS. U have great taste in Jeeps!

I wish I could hook you up with the LJ... My GF wouldn't be so happy about it though... I already told her if we stay together and she decides to get a different vehicle I was going to take possession of the LJ and build it up... I love that it is a Wrangler that you can take the doors and top off, just like any other Wrangler, but has the wheelbase and almost the same storage room behind the rear seat for carrying gear, even with four people..

On another note from your other post... if they had provided them down there, they probably would have been smart and offered them with a TD powerplant option....

I would never have bothered with an XJ ... if the LJ was exported here.

Stupid TJ was just too short for doing decent trips in. You can fit 10 jerry cans in the back to get you where you're going ... but thats about it, besides an esky and a bedroll.

... and me poor bloody cattledog had to curl up like a snake, on the pass seat, or cook down in the footwell .. :D

Nahh ... we only got diesel XJs coz they were already a euro model ... At least they were smart enough to only send 4.0l TJs down here ... The poor little 2.5s would still be sitting in the showrooms .. :D

Are they a full or half chassis?
Wouldn't mind, if the old girl isn't to far gone, turning the bent blue XJ into a tray back.[emoji41] [emoji41] [emoji41]

MJs are nearly identical from the back of the front doors forward. The bed portion is traditional "body on frame". Kinda odd to mix em but i guess they couldn't come up with a quick way to make it full unibody.

I'll have a look for some schematics of the MJ chassis, to give me some ideas on fabricating a chassis out the back for a tray, on my XJ. [emoji48]

That's the idea.... But I don't like the tray. I reckon I would do it differently. Narrower, not as high off the chassis and not as long. I would use tube for the head board/roll bar too.

Thanks for the links cantab....

Yip. Bridgestone focus is on standard or at least near standard vehicles. Max 2" lift and 33" wheels. We had a huge storm which destroyed tents and blew trees over onto some vehicles. The Final competition wad cancelled due to most of the guys not getting any sleep. Bridgestone used the total accumulated scores from the 3 elimination rounds to announce the Winners in both Short Wheel- and Long Wheel base. I, as a rookie managed to make 22nd on the list. I'm just happy to have completed the series and to not be at the bottom of the list. Got my medal and trophy at least [emoji16] http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161119/31a645c8693c4924077020eef04d2a90.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161119/3675134b3271581217143444745c1829.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161119/9e9b1f549e80659e787cf88339aa670f.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161119/1abf1d38fb589aebb7ca81c122b25b0a.jpg

yep. they're a good compromise of offroad performance and mileage longevity. had them in pretty good mud a few times the last few weeks, they didn't disappoint.

I gotta remember they're not like the muds on the XJ, I don't even think about using 4x4 unless climbing something steep.
