My wife drives a 2004 Kia Sedona. Not a bad ride, but that is what happens when you have 3 kids.

I tried to get her into a Jeep Cherokee, but she wasn't interested...

My wife drives a 2003 F-250 4WD Super Duty diesel for pulling her horse trailer and her DD. She loves it. She's already told me that she has no plans of getting rid of it. A new engine is in it's future once she wears this one out.

Looking at my Jeep stuff, she's decided she wants to modify it. It's Blue with a grey strip across the bottom now. She wants to do the lower grey panels in bed liner, also do the chrome nerf bars in bed liner. She also wants to paint all the fake plastic chrome flat black and put on a black grill guard with a winch mount bumper.:D

She already took off the chrome F250 emblems to paint them black.

Hell yeah! The only good chrome is chrome that has been painted over. I like mine with no shine

however, she does want a bobbed deuce and a half one day to drive around town. :)

If you are looking for a forum for it.. www.67-72chevytrucks.com has a good 73-87 (91) forum. I have been looking at suburbans for myself as well. With a larger family now I need something with more room and 4 doors.

My wife did have a 2001 Expedition EB, but being it got 11 MPG, and was getting full of electrical gremlins and the fact she drives every day from place to place for work she now has a 2008 Nissan Rogue AWD. Almost was in a 2008 Liberty but it lacked in power and felt unstable to her. I couldnt agree to pay 18K for a car she didnt like.

cherokeewrecker
10-01-2011, 05:26 PM
As long as they're happy were ok! Plus with cars its better for them to make the decision than us because if something happens to it we'd never hear the end of it. I know its happened to a lot of my friends that way, and glad I dont have to deal with that problem at the moment.

Converted96XJ
10-01-2011, 05:30 PM
Right... well she was in love with the liberty, in love with it, it was like new, 13K miles, it had the sliding ragtop, skyslider its called, and i knew there would be issues down the road but it was really nice. I took it out, the thing had no acceleration power at all. then she drove it and thought it felt unstable on the freeway, i drove it and it felt no better than my xj did with 170k on it.. lol

she loved the expedition, hated to give it up and misses the room a lot.

Yeah. thats deffinately a downer. My girlfriend is the same with her Monte Carlo. She travels back and forth from our little town in Mass to Hyde Park in New York for school and she loves her car but theres just getting to be too many problems coming up with it so were trying to find her something else that she likes.

I love driving my jeep at all times, except when I pull up to the pump. Plus, I park in a downtown surface lot at work. Nothing stands out like a sore thumb and makes you a target like an obviously modified Jeep.

BlueXJ
10-02-2011, 12:11 PM
When I park in a downtown location I pick a spot where it is easily visible so that everyone can keep an eye on it for me. No one is gonna mess with the highest profile vehicle on the lot, was my thinking.

I dislike GM's with the fury of 1000 suns. My ex-wife had an 01 Sunfire with the main headlight wiring loom under the battery tray. Well, as GM's do, the one battery terminal pulled out and splashed acid all over this plug. I found a Cavi plug that was comparable, but had a different wiring color scheme. Took me 2 days of staring at the schematics and the plug to figure it out. Why would you make a hot for the DRL and a ground for the headlights the same color wire.

My GF's 04 Alero is slightly better. Fit & Finish still sucks. Never in my years of owning Ford's have I ever experienced the craziness of GM engineer's. And I owned a Topaz in college.

Her daily driver right now is the Easter Egg: 1997 Geo Metro hatchback. Yes, it is a 3-cylinder. About 52MPG.

She also has a 1986 Bummer (K-5 Blazer running gear with an aftermarket body) that is soon getting an engine swap to replace the worn-out 6.2 diesel, and a fire-breathing Buick Grand National.

New axles at 100 K and you think that's good? Is that the maintenance interview or just when they usually give up the ghost?

702XJCruiser
10-16-2011, 01:50 PM
Yup that's pretty much standard for any Honda and most front wheel drive cars I can think of. Between 100k and 120k miles cv axles need to be replaced.

Just like if you buy a Dodge Ram you know you're tranny will be toast between 80k miles and 110k miles or so.
