It will be interesting seeing what the recommendation is here. I only have ever had Rough Country so I can't give you an opinion.

The OME suspension will give a softer ride. But they only lift to 3". If you are looking for a taller lift, it will have to be Ironman or another brand.

OME would be better. Ironman is cheap stuff. You need to get springs for the right job. Soft for wheeling, hard for towing. Do some reasearch.

I went with a rough country 6.5 and love it!

T&T CUSTOMS or Rusty's Off Road has one of the best lifts for an XJ. I have a 5.5 from Rusty's and wheel every with no issues.

Before we can/should be giving you recommendations, we need to know what are your intentions?

Street with the occasional off road excurssion?

What size tires do you want to fit?

Are you just doing it for looks?

I've had really good luck with the Rubicon Express 3.5" Super Flex kit.

Only Red Jeeps do lifts just for looks!! LOL... Nah.. but seriously the above info would help folks make a wise recommendation for you!!!

I say screw getting a lift, just get a green XJ, they can do it all :D

Street with the occasional off road excurssion 2 times in a month
only 3 inch
tires 31.x10.5 MT

Ok, so you will want a 3"-3.5" lift. They can fit 31" tires with very little rubbing. I say you should also get lower control arms(LCA). Ones with a flex joint will help you do just that. Plus the stock ones are weak.

Now for lift kits. I have a Rubicon Express 3.5" Super Flex
http://www.jeepinoutfitters.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=115

I didnt get the leaf springs, I used s-10 springs for my rear lift. Seeing as you are in Peru, not sure how many there are down there, if at all. Plus the springs are nice. Rubicon Express is known for good stuff. I've had their lift since 2003, and its on it's second vehicle.

Second, I have started to hear good things about Rough Country. Before they were really stiff rides.

What you want out of a lift....I would get quick disconnects and Lower Control Arms. You will want to think about getting a transfercase lower kit, or do what I did and just use washers to lower the crossmemeber an inch.

hope that helps, oh and when you want to go to a bigger tire, you can...I'm currently running 33" MTR's with the same lift.

no problema!

With the 2001 you will want to get a transfer case drop, 1 inch should be fine

On the US versions the snorkel goes on the driver's side. The air box on ours is on the driver's side.

Hey maybe you can show us a picture with the hood up? :camera:

I'm using the RE3.5 superflex.
Great kit offroad, very firm "on road"
You may want to consider that while buying a 3.5" lift.
Due to the geometry of the front control arms, you will feel each and every bump if you are running more than 2.5".

245/75/16 with the RE 3.5":

I put those in there. Basically you bring the picture up on your screen, right click it and look for something that says LIKE "copy image url" "copy image location" something like that. Paste it into your post then put the and around it.

Yeah I tried that first, but something image shack is doing doesn't let it work correctly here. So I just got the link directly from the picture being displayed on my screen and did it.

I bet they've do it on purpose so people will have to go to their site and see the ads :bang:
