on this one I installed a NICE smittybilt security console and a stereo and new speakers all were stealth no antenna nothing in the dash and the speakers were hidden behind the dash.

Congrats on the Dream Job there Scott!! I would love to find a place like that to work at.. even if only part time... I will probably have to open my own up though, if I am staying up in DE much longer.. Is the boss' YJ still on stock axles.. they look kind of skinny... then again those are some honkin' tires!! I want the Green Wrangler on the second picture...

More info on the VW powered rig. Even I have never seen or heard of one of those, except a VW diesel I saw once in DJ.

On the Veep we are restoring it to have in our showroom as it sits right NOW all she is is a vw motor and a shell, we gotta special order everything!!! I am pretty sure the only thing we are not replacing is the exterior paint due to the "veep" painting making it so original.
as for the bosses rig it has a carbed 360 sitting on waggy 44 front axle and in the back Im not really positive but yes those tires are HONKIN huge 39.5x15.50 Ill snap some more pics of it as we do more work on it but his is more rolling advertisement pretty much cause when you go by it you can ONLY say HOLY CRAP that thing is HUGE! which then makes you read the fencder which is the name of our shop... trust me it worked cause thats how I found it!

as of now the renegade in the bacground thats sittin on jackstands is now under wheels n tires they are waggy 44's front n rear with a wide track conversion detroit trutrac lockers front n rear on 4.10 gears and a 5" suspension lift and he's getting "metalcloak" fender replacements, yesterday we had a father son duo swap lifts on some ford super duty pickups cause dads was a 10" and sons was a 4.5 inch... that was a PITA to do but whatever... the only reason we did the trucks is cause they are very good jeep customers... anyhow thats the update thus far!

you know Im not really sure but its some sort of diff protection, I looked at it the other day and noticed it, it goes from one shock mount to the diff then over to the other shock mount I THINK it might also be a yoke skid... I need to WALK under there and check it out closer

Now if you really want to make a Veep, use some WWII parts and make it 4Wd on low range.

Speaking of WWII does anyone know where I can locate a replica GLASS windshield for a 41 willy's? we have a restoration and thats on the list of hard to find parts!

Its flat glass isnt it. Seems like the glass shop could cut you one out.

XJ4IV
08-03-2011, 03:53 PM
yes but the gasket is also needed and thats the hard part I suppose cause I was thinking the same thing, also we may go with a lexan windshield to cut costs but thats up to the customer ... there is a glass shop two doors down from us, its a pretty cool location out there we have a body shop across the street a machine shop about 1/2 mile down the street a bedlining place 1/2 mile down as well a metal fabrication store right next door
an auto upholstery shop at the end of the street and lots of other specialty shops all within 1 mile of our shop! and MOST of them we dont even have to drive on a street to get to em!

If I am not mistaken its a cable truss for the axle housing. Though I thought that style was used on race cars not off roaders.

well I asked the boss man what all that was and the axle itself is an AMC 20 and the reason for those "straps" is due to the fact that those specific axles had a weak part when they were originally installed on CJ's however THIS particular one came from a 76 waggy which didnt have the weak point in it
but he did this modification for extra assurance on the trail.... apparently the whole axle tube can bend...

Cool pictures, thanks. I like how they put the protection between the flat flares and the body. There is a TJ here at work that has flat flares but you can see the body below the flares, and it just doesn't look right to me.

XJ4IV
08-09-2011, 09:11 AM
theres a few things Id CHANGE about the design of those for the CJ but I gotta see how theyd look on a TJ...I dont think an XJ rear kit will ever be available for a 4 door due to the lack of room for that backing plate.
