Has anyone else been impressed with the turning radius of the XJ? I sure was after driving my wife 97 S10 4wd Blazer. Here is a comparison I did shortly after purchasing the XJ..

I could not find a turning radius for the Blazer to compare. But check out the Cherokee radius compared to the Chevy Cavalier. I thought that was pretty impressive.

Make/model wheelbase turning radius
99 Jeep Cherokee 101" 17.9'
09 Ford Escape 103" 18.3'
00 Chevy Suburban 130" 21.7'
05 Chevy Cavalier 104" 17.8'
10 Ford Edge 110" 18.8'
01 Hummer 130" 26.5'
97 Geo Metro 93" 15.7'
05 GMC Envoy 113" 18.2'
05 Jeep Liberty 104" 17.9'
08 Toyota FJ 106" 20.9'
05 Toyota 4runner 110" 18.7'

It appears the Cherokee/Liberty has one of the best turning radius in it's class. But check out the FJs radius.. The suburban has 2' more wheelbase but only 1' bigger radius. The FJ has 2" longer wheelbase than the Liberty but 3' bigger radius.

I think the Isuzu bobtail with the 14' box at my work could beat the hummer.

And just so it is clear the turning measurements are radius, double it for the full circle diameter.

ZJ
Wheelbase: 105.9"
Turning Radius: 18.4'

TJ
Wheelbase: 93.4"
Turning Radius: 16.4'

JK 2 Door
Wheelbase: 95.4"
Turning Radius: 17.45'

JK 4 door
Wheelbase: 116"
Turning Radius: 20.65'

This coming from a guy used to 4-door long bed trucks and semi trucks.....I FREAKING LOVE IT!!!

Our 2WD truck turns so much shorter than our 4WD ones. I didn't expect the Jeep to turn so short.

So far, I just enjoy it more every day I drive it. I've run across a few little issues I wasn't expecting, but while I panicked about them at first, they've turned out not to be anything I am not going to be able to deal with pretty easily.

I can't wait to access all the fishing spots and places to launch my kayak that I've been missing out on because of the size and crappy turning radius of our trucks! There's one spot I've got my eye on that short bed trucks have problems getting in. The Jeep and small SUV guys just whiz right in and out of it.

I think I'll load up and head over there tomorrow!!!!

Yeah I don't mind little so much as long as I can sit up high. Even in the stock XJ you sit a lot higher than in my wife's old Mustang.
