Lost my connection while this was being posted so I hope it doesn't end up posting twice.

I finally had time yesterday to take the front doors off of Red. I love it and wish I had done it sooner.

The only problem I have is now the back windows won't roll up. They are power windows and apparently the connection from the battery to the rear switches goes through one of the front doors. I was wondering if anyone else has done this mod and what they did about the windows.
Also I was wondering what would be good to use for mirror brackets. I just picked up a couple cheap mirrors at O'Reilly's and have L brackets on now. They don't look great but they work. They do get a lot of vibration though so I'm going to look into something a little more sturdy. Thanks in advance for any advice!

All the power for the windows goes through the driver door switch. If you disconnect it all the windows will be deat.

It looks great.
Why not removing that window switch to the dashboard?

You guys are driving me crazy.. I have been wanting to do this to my XJ.. at least for the front doors if nothing else.. and the more I see it done on the 97+, the more I want to hook that up...

Yep, That's what I'm going to end up doing I think. And you read my mind Mudderoy! I ordered the rear window switch in red. Also got one for the door locks. I like the way those off road rockers look. I already have some installed for the extra lighting. Of course now I'm wondering how hard it would be to replace the OEM door lock switch and window switch on each door with the rockers. Would have to cut a larger hole with the dremel for starters. Hmmmmm.......

Oops almost forgot. To keep the road spray from puddles and what not I picked up a can of foam sealant from Menard's. I got one for $8 thats made for cracks over an inch and a half. After seeing how much it expanded when I was spraying I probably could have gotten away with just the $3 can.

I think I may have used a little bit much! Just have to trim it down and paint it but it works rather well.

Oh, one other thing if your going to use this stuff, you might not want to wear shorts. Some had gotten on my leg and I didn't realize it until it was already setting up. Well I could have just pulled it off (it doesn't just wash off with soap and water) but I am kind of a wuss so I went with the clippers.

After almost 41 years as a guy I can't believe I SHAVED MY LEG!

Hey could always be worse.. I remember reading when I was looking into doing the Herculiner.. that he had gotten some on his genitalia when he went to take a bathroom break.. so at least you were able to get away with just shaving your legs a bit.. LOL..
