Mounting homemade roof rack

I am planning on making my own roof rack but the problem is i don't want to use the factory rails. I want to mount to the rain gutter. Does anyone know how i can go about doing this?

Yes.

Any hardware store should have them. I favor smaller hardware stores and avoid the Big Box stores when possible.

I found a set o gutter mounted ski racks at a second hand store, paid $3 for the set... discarded the bars and bolted my home made EMT rack to the mounts... was easy cheap and is solid enough for my application

steph, that sounds like a great idea too. Not sure i'll have the same luck, but def something to consider.
