Ok yall heres some pics of the Snorkel me and my dad did. Sorry theres no build pics my camera likes to play hide and seek with us. And its really good at it to. Ok here we go,here's the PVC junction box coming out of the fender leads to these 2 pcs of 2 inch pvc attached to it going to a 2 to 3 inch coupler.

It was attached by drillin four holes thru fender and running bolts thru box and fender.

Next use yer own judement on how long you want the long pipe to be. No real measurement of it just a placement ,look and cut.
http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x367/grizzlyxj4x4/XJ%20JEEP/0705111909d.jpg
Used a 3 inch 90 degree pipe for the top cap holder.
http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x367/grizzlyxj4x4/XJ%20JEEP/0705111910.jpg
Just a regular dryer vent topper glued together and painted flat black screwed into 90 degree pipe.

We used some 3 inch flex pipe to run to the air box where we ran into a small problem. We werent real sure what to use to tie the hose into the air box so we finally decided on a electrical coupler with a screw on nut on back side 2 1/2 inch.
Heres the final product

Have noticed a slight rise in HP. nothin major but a lil jump anyways. Will see in the coming weeks how it is on MPG. Hope yall like it. Any questions just ask.

not to shabby for home made. I don't think i would have a use for that in all the Utah rocks.

looks like Bernard kept the air filter box and just relocated the inlet ..... Am I right ? what do I win ?

I was looking at my own airbox and I am not sure this would be feasable..... are Renix boxes that much different ? I mean come on what are all these connections lol.... maybe I ought to take pictures and start a thread lol

Just right at the junction box. After that 3". 2" all the way will constrict the air flow drastically believe it or not. 3" from that coupling on up did wonders for HP and engine cooling.

I do like the fact someone has gained from the home made one but the pvc lb is really restrictive right. the air has to take a harsh 90, that and 3" into a 2 is still going to perform the same as 2" all the way. My way of thinking is 3" to 2" is only going to get what it can from the 2". Otherwise, hey why not do a 6" to a 2" its still only going to get what it can get through the 2". I do however like the vent at the top, my question is does it take on water in rain? If not thinkin thats one i haven't put thought into yet!!!

Yes it does go into 2" but by the time it reached that point it alot of air pushing so it went thru alot faster then if it had been just 2" all the way. I never had issues with it takin on rain water while driving. And when it snowed I just turned it backwards.
