The time has come for some bead-locks on my xj I'm running 15x8 with mickey T blais claws 33x12.5 and running them at about 14psi and can never keep them on the beads
I'm from down under and we don't have to many rims to pick from over here and big big $ Been looking at weld on
just like to know what you guy's are running weld on or full bead-lock rims and what $ they are over there

Dave, for the money you could be better off with some Stauns, made in Aussie land. Besides, you get both beads protected that way. It is what I will do when I change wheels.

Ditto on steve's recomendation Stauns are the way to go, especially when running low air pressures like 14 lbs. Locking the outer bead isn't much good if the inner one is still loose, a blown inner bead can fubar your suspension lickety split.

I agree, in fact the only one I have lost was an inner bead out in the rocks. The bead was on the uphill side and the tire being pushed over wrinkled the inner bead and lost it. There was an article in Four Wheeler on this subject a couple of years ago. The inner bead loss is caused by a thick rim protector area on todays tires. My swampers had them, along with my BFGs. When I change tires and rims, the Stauns are going in. There is also a cheaper one out of Canada now that appears to be equivalent.

Thought Staun went out of business,...

I'm reading that Austraila did, the US didn't. Hard to understand how the importer wouldn't have to as well, but...

I see they are still available. $208 for my needs. I'm pretty sure that would be each! :timeout:

Yeah but if you adjust the width to fit your wheel they are $205 ;)

That is for a 11 - 12" wide wheel. That is still much cheaper than bead locks. Also, you have to mess around retorquing bead locks all the time. Another issue with them is that different tire manufacturers have different thicknesses of beads. There are times when they might be too thick for the bead lock rim. This can cause stress cracks and failure of the seat. One of the editors of an off road mag I get, Phil Howell had one explode on him for that reason. He is not a fan of bead locks now.

As far as I know, internal bead locks, like the Staun qualify as an inner tube, which is legal in all 50 states. No DOT number is required on tubes to be legal.

Mounted these baby's up today easy job and took about 4hr to do
As far as staun in Australia they are gone and not made anymore (usa may make them still) but there is a guy in Australia that make second-air and are the same as stauns and all parts fit the staun beadlocks tubes valve etc.
