So I picked up the 5 Grizzly wheels yesterday, and I'm looking at tires today.

I decided on the BFG 30x9.5x15 AT. I found them for $126.68 each at TireCrawler.com (thanks Matt). That doesn't include shipping or installation. I went over to DiscountTire.com and looked up the same tire. $146.00 each.

Next to the tire (on the discounttire website) there is a link labeled "Found it lower?" I clicked on that, put in my contact information, the tire price and link to where I found it lower.

I'm waiting on a call back now. If all goes well I'll be getting them installed tomorrow afternoon. :rolleye0012:

I thought that Discount had a "mach any price deal"

Yep they do, and I'm trying to make use of it. Matt did and they matched the price and DIDN'T take the shipping of the tires into account.

He didn't buy the tires, so I'm going to see if they really match the price or if they'll correct it in due course.

I tried to get Discount to match an online price when I was looking. You have to add the shipping cost or they wont price match, at least that is what I was told by the Discount rep. So for me it was a wash and I ended up getting a used set from a local club forum.

Yep that's what I would expect, but they matched the price for msmoorenburg, so it's worth a shot.

$609.12 with shipping from tirecrawler.com or $632.18 from DiscountTire.com with the 8.25% tax.

So I'm reading the BFG ATs get loud on the highway after 10 or 15k miles. The wife doesn't want road noise. Has anyone had this issue with AT's? This is news to me.

The key is to rotate. I just it as a gauge when to change oil aka about 7500 miles

I rotated mine every 3-4k miles and they sound the same as they did when i bought them. no noise at all and still riding smooth. i have 46k on my At's and still have at least 10k life left.

Now checking on getting the tires mounted and balanced if I order them from tirecrawler.com.

NTB Mount $10 Balance $4
Sam's Club Won't do it.
Discount Mount and bal for about $25 a tire.

While talking to Discount he was VERY interested in getting the deal so he said he would match tirecrawler price, but that included the shipping. Being ready for this I asked him about the tax? "Tax?" He said. Yeah the 8.25% more I'll have to pay buying the same tires from you. He said he would MATCH the delivered price and that included dropping the price on the tires to make up for the 8.25% :D

So I called tirecrawler.com and spoke with Denny(sp?) I told him the story so far and said I guess you guys lose a lot of deals to discount tire because people would rather pay the same price you have for your tires and get them NOW instead of waiting.

I told him I wanted to call and give tirecrawler.com a chance to beat discount's price. Denny said "no." I said "Okay thanks and went to hang up the phone." He continued with "what you see on the site is the price." So I just thanked him again and hung up the phone.

Bottom line; Discount is interested in selling tires and Tirecrawler isn't.

The guy I spoke with at the local discount tire store doesn't make commission on the deal, so it wasn't important to him that I call him back. This guy was motivated to sell the tires. NTB only quoted me the price for installing the tires and made no attempt to get the deal.

I called the NTB store that I use most of the time and where I got the MTs from. He said he'd mount and balance the tires for $20 total, and laughed at the $14 per tire from the other store.

He wants my business as well so I may try them if discount tire deal falls through.

I have found Discount Tire wants to earn your business. At least for me they go the extra mile. I have bought 4 sets of tires from the Katy store (by Katy Mills mall). Good prices, good service.

For my truck I bought the spin balance and rotate. Every 6000 miles I bring the truck in, they spin balance and rotate my tires. I now have 30K miles on the tires, they ride smooth and are about 1/2 way worn.

Thanks, I may try that store instead. I called the one close to Mason.

Based on XJ Rat's recommendation I tried the Discount Tire at the Katy Mills mall.

I worked with Patrick. They are having a 100 rebate this weekend, but I told him I couldn't afford to wait on the rebate, $607 was the cost of the 4 BFG 30x9.5x15 tires from tirecrawler.com shipped. My price for tires, mounting and balancing.... $616.

Discount Tire really will work with you to get the deal!

If you're here in the Houston/Katy area and you go to the discount store at Katy Mills mall (near the mall) ask for Patrick and tell him you were sent there by xjtalk.com!

Yep, I need to tint the windows now, do a little paint and pinstripe work...

I still need to move the tow hooks and oem fog lights over and then wire them up.
