I need some opinions on diff fluids. I'm going to change the fluid in the 30 and am getting ready to install an open diff 44 in the jeep. Trying to get an idea of what fluid i should put in those diffs. anyone run synthetics? anyone run dino oil?
Thanks guyz

I did the Royal Purple when I put the 4.56 gears in it. 90/135 weight, or something like that in the rear diff.

I haven't tried any synthetic in the diffs. I run Amsoil synthetic in the Atlas, works well. I also run Redline high temp in the auto tranny. The transmission shop swears by it.

Remember, you can use 140 in a 90 diff but you cant use 90 in a 140 diff. Just some food for thought.

NAPA can order it. And if all else fails, Summit Racing. That is where I get my Redline as well as a local transmission shop.

If you regularly hit water holes you may consider running a less expensive fluid in your diffs. In my hey days I would change the diff fluid 3-4 times a year. Running Redline or Royal Purple would have gotten awful expensive.

I am still confused about synthetic in the diff. My F150 has synthetic from the factory. Yet Currie Enterprises will not warrant diff gears if it is determined synthetic was in the case. What gives???????????????

Really? wow, guess I just lucked out somehow. I went into Oreilly and told the guy I needed some rearend oil for a 95 jeep cherokee and he produced two bottles of it after about a four minute wait. He did say he owned the blue 95 out front, maybe he just had a stash or something. Good to know I can get it through NAPA when I change it next year.

you might also check into Amsoil. It is supposed to be completely waterproof. Theoretically, reusable after being drained and separated. I think that is one reason why Advance Adapters uses it in their tcases.
