I was reading around like always and saw some comments about the fact that the shroud actually has a purpose other than just protecting fingers and holding the sticker for the belt routing....

Mine was never there. I am wondering if it would be better to find one and instal it ?

What you think ?

Yes it is there to promote cooloing by directing the air through the radiator by the fan , if you have never had one , once you install one you will notice a large differance in cooling.

Steph, I forget the actual percentage of increase in air flow with a shroud, but it is something like almost doubling it. You should have shrouds on both fans

btw, I think the fingers issue is important too :-)
and yes the shroud has a role in the cooling system besides keeping your fingers.

yes steph, you should see if you can find one, it will make a huge difference in the effeciency of your cooling fans. I'm planning on making new shrouds that full surround of the fans. if you want to see what the folks at Griffin Thermal Products think a shroud should look like check this out. http://www.griffinrad.com/Universal_Combos.cfm notice the way the block air flow so it has to go through the fan and that the fan has a full surround around the blades.
