View Full Version : 4.0L Auto Idle RPM

Anyone know what RPM a 4.0 idel speed should be. Mine kinda lugs as you let off the brake. Like it inches forward nudge nudge nudge as you ease off the brake.

mine is hair above 1st line, guess around 400?

Supposed to be 650 rpms if IIRC

Is it Auto or manual trans? If its manual ...sounds like the clutch is out of adjustment.

try using carb cleaner & take the air induction hose off of the throttle body & spry the ports for the sensors. these 4.0's get blow by alot & also, dirt in the air makes the for bad readings. sometimes that helps idle. if not that then check your fuel filter & air filter.

If you look under the poster's name, there is a bar that says "{name}'s Information" If you click it and they have filled out their information you'll see the details of their rig. Great and helpful tool when answering questions. Like the manual or automatic for example.
