hey anyone have any tips for getting the spark plug from cylinder 6 (closest to firewall i believe) out of my engine. i took the ignition wires and distributor and distributor rotor apart after a short or something caused the wire that runs from the ignition coil to the center of the distributor fried itself in half. i wanted to check and possibly replace all my plugs in addition to the wires cap and rotor i was already in the market to replace.

reason im asking is because the dip stick for the tranny and a bunch of wires are more or less blocking me form a straight shot.

thanks.

It sounds like you need a wobble extention. They are not as difficult as a universal joint adapter to use. One thing that helps is using a breaker bar insted of a ratchet.

I use spark plugs sockets with the ujoint built into it. You have to support the pivot end of the ratchet with one hand while you pull with the other.

I just used a universal with an extension to do mine about a week back, and it seemed to work fine for me..

Yeah Patrick a wobble socket plus a extension should do the trick.

When using a u-joint, try wrapping a piece of electrical tape around the u-joint. Makes it much easier to control. The tape will not hinder the flexibility of the u-joint. Learned this little trick when I was a service mechanic.

I just did mine last week. I put my sparkplug socket on 1st then I was able to just barely get my extension on it. I had the most trouble removing the plugwire from #1.
