One of my plans for the Xj this summer is to "cage" it. There are a couple of problems, first amoung all my fab equipment I don't posess a tubing bender, second, I have very limited time to spend on the Xj so I don't want to get into a big fab project. Here is an alternative I think I really like:http://rockhard4x4parts.com/cart/proddetail.php?prod=RH1012-1

My question is: has anyone here seen this set up in person or had one in there jeep? I would rather build my own but for me time is money and the Xj doesn't pay the bills.

I'd run Rock Hard's cage...easy kit, all bolts in.

Here is one of the features I really like about it:

Well if ya have the cash to buy a bolt in cage, it seems as though you could have one built. I know of a few chassis builders around seems like you would end up with a stronger cage at a cheaper price that way

That cage offers a super clean install, if you care about your interior, get it.

I found it 'extremely' difficult to fabricate & install a cage without damage to the interior.

T&J makes a great weld up cage kit in the 4-5 hundred range. I personally would not use a bolt up kit but that's just me from racing experiences. I'm not going with a full cage, I plan to use a double roll bar set up, two behind the seat tubes with a shoulder harness bar and two angle braces to the rear. I won't have the rear seat much longer since I decided to opt for keeping the rear flat for storage and hauling. Now that said, I have looked at the setup you show and it seems to be very well thought out and the brackets look plenty strong along with the mounting plates.
