This is my 12" box design which is 1.49 cubic ft. It takes up the least amount of room and the woofer is protected from any object rolling around. As i stated in the first thread this is the sweet spot for the xj's with a sub woofer.

The details are as follows dimensions are OD for 3/4" mdf, the width is 7.5", the box is 16.5" tall, bottom length is 33.5" and the top 26.75". Radius is 67* degrees. You can modify this for a 10" by making the design shorter in hight to come out to 1 cubic ft. ID dimensions. If any one wants that design I will calculate for furture post. To secure I used a loop ratchet strap and 2 D rings. Mount the D rings on front and back long ways or on the side in back of woofer and in front of wheel well and thread tie down through D rings and back into it's self and rachet down.

I had this set up in my 89 xj and we were into death valley back the and we would go to dumont dunes and jump the thing and never once did the box move. once it is set after alittle settling in it never moved. Oh yeah we had it about 4' in the air the damn thing jumped like a dirt bike, neutral landings.

So this is my design after many other desings and I had free access to you name the brand back in the day of building cars for sema and ces. Don't be affraid to ask any questions. There is alot of gimmicky car audio out there, I go with companies that specialize in areas as speakers or amps or head units don't fall victum to if it's all the same brand it's " matched" mentality. It's always better to go too big than too small in audio.

This what I ran with a hifonics 1100 watt rms brutus. The box is ported to DD specs, I found all brands run in this design with higher SPL using same amp.2.4 cubic ft. If you play bass or know someone that plays bass you will notice all bass speakers are a ported design as well as your home audio system. Once you go ported you will never use anything else. That is why I have alot of respect for the tube type sub design it's ported that's why they they play louder, I would go sealed though if space and exposure is a concern. This was what was the evolution of this particular design. You will also see a capacitor, I recomend them when using a sub it will save your battery and you will notice a difference the amp dose not starve for power. The DD sub is model 3500 2 x 4ohm ( dual voice coil). DD is one of the last american made subs and they have a crap loud of world SPL records. On DD's webpage is a spec page of enclosure requierments. They also make real "studio monitors" all their products are some of the best that's out there now.

My mount is aluminum L stock and 2ea.1/4 20 well nuts and 2ea. 1/4 20 tee bolts. With all the weight on the box in the back and the wedge of the box held by the seat it's "clamped in.

DD now has some entry"500 series" level subs that he imports that are very reasonable. I made some boxes for his 6.5" that were awesome in out put. They do make evry size 6.5" to 18".

Cerwin vega and jbl are great products that are not in "style" any more but back in the day the cerwin vega stroker was the shiz. I used the sub with the red surround and are one of my all time favorite subs. It will work very nicely in a DD design 8' sub enclosure. They have the specs online. One thing to remeber when making boxes is to add the displacement of the sub and port to the recomended air space in owners manual. DD dose a good job of helping you calculate. Or I will design for you.

close up of mount, well nuts are inserted into holes in box and expand as they are tightened down. rubber washer keeps tee bolt from coming loose.http://i1186.photobucket.com/albums/z363/brian_mcdonald1/S4020325.jpg
