I've always done things this way... If somebody tries to come over in front of me without a blinker... I do my best to prevent them. It is an illegal lane change, and I refuse to let them if I can. I know it's not my job to do that, but dammit, follow the #@#@$ rules, you're not special no matter what your mother tells you. Now on the other hand, If I see somebody with a blinker on, it's not an automatic that I'll let you in, however, if the person is being nice about it and "asking" to be let in and I have the ability to let them in without causing myself or others any danger then I'll do my best to let them in.... UNLESS they are going to get in front of me and drive slower than the 4-over-the-speed-limit that I usually drive. If I let you in front of me, don't insult me by screwing me over. Furthermore, one law that Houstonians seem to ignore.... the highway has the right of way. That means that when you enter the highway, you yield to highway traffic and don't force your way in. Traffic exiting the highway has the right of way, so yield to cars coming off the highway. I'm sick and tired of drivers trying to prevent me from getting on the feeder roads, and I'm sick of people trying to force their way on to the highway.

I know that last piece didn't have anything to do with Muddy's video, but I just felt like throwing that in there to vent :D In Tony's case, that guy forced his way in so he wouldn't miss his turn instead of admitting to himself that he was in the wrong lane at the wrong time and turning around when it was safe, which is another HUGE problem that drivers have these days. I need to get me a dash cam so I have proof because somebody is bound to cause a wreck with me with how much I drive daily.

Totally agree. Driving the flatbed around i guess everyone assumes its gonna be slow so they pull right out in front of it. Which, is even more idiotic because its a 7k lbs. 22ft truck that will move you Honda with force, as well as being worse in the stopping department. See where a problem could come in.

The drivers around here astound me every time i go anywhere by their selfishness, yes, selfishness. If there's a lane closure or lane exiting, don't get in it and try to cut up the line to get ahead of everyone and cut in at the last second. The ones that do that ARE the problem. Them cutting in at the last second forces everyone to slow down, thus creating a backup.

Just if that driving test lasted through the first few years AFTER someone gets their license. :banghead:

More on point with Tony's vid. Spending a LOT of time in Houston making deliveries, etc i've had it happen a LOT where we need over and put on the indicator and they speed up so you can't get over. So sometimes i fit in that space, just to make a point. Oh, and they FREAK OUT when you keep going on the shoulder beside them because "you couldn't get over". ;)

Okay, rant over. :p

I actually got hit by a taxi minivan in traffic because he zoomed up the shoulder and picked me to get in front of. I didn't let him and there was paint transfer. Turns out he had a fare that didn't want to be late to the airport. As it happened, the fare was late, had to call another taxi, and a cop chewed the taxi driver out saying that I had the right to plow into him if I wanted to because it was my lane! This was in my old Cavalier, so no damage to my Jeep :D

Next time you hear about an auto pedestrian accident, consider it may just have been the pedestrian's fault.

They had just crossed six lanes (and a median) of traffic and the last 10 feet was a lazily walk.

There is somebody watching over ALL of us. I stopped for lunch at Jack in the Box and when I came out, a very elderly lady had mistaken the gas pedal for the brakes. Her car launched over some boulders and hit a truck in the windshield before coming to rest on its side. There were workers standing on that side of the truck moments before this happened. By the grace of God, they were out of the way before the accident occurred. Some men ran over and up-righted the car and carried her to safety because there was gasoline spewing from the wreck. Also by the grace of God, the woman is completely unharmed. Prayers were definitely answered here...

A lot of those guys would classify as the stereotypical "thug". People are good, no matter what packaging they come in.

What would I do and what should I do are different things... I have a very bad temper while driving and I have been known to get in front of them and brake check the hell out of them.

I've gotten a lot better over the years, and that's a very good thing because especially in Texas you never know who has a gun in the car. Now for you, with dash cam as evidence and a nice big bumper on the front.... running in to them is tempting :D

Leaving work at lunch to get a drink. I have seen this MJ a few times, he works for the local Electric or Telephone company (can see bucket in the far left of picture) and uses his truck for work. I have seen him pulling a very large spool of wire with it.

On my way home this morning from work, I saw this crap load of jeeps (mostly Wranglers, but a couple of XJ's) headed east out of tulsa on I-44. I don't have any idea where they were headed, but as sloppy as it is here with the snow and then rain, I'm sure they're going to have fun.

I can't remember the name of the Tulsa area group. One or two of the members from Red Dirt Jeeps went with them... can't find the post where they mentioned the group name or destination. But heading east... on I-44 it was likely Disney.

Not really on my way to work but rather while I was there. I consider it OK to put it here because while I'm at work I'm always on my way to or from. lol

Trucking across kansas last night it was icy. In fact, I didn't make my destination. I turned around and came home. Should have stayed home to begin with.

Here's the mirrors amd air cleaner on the passenger side

Later on, the ice piled up and caused the poorly designed Kenworth wipers to beak. I carry new ones but the end of the arm had broken off. This was the Oklahoma engineered fix to keep it from gouging into my windshield all the way home

LOL!!!! I posted those just to see how long it would take to get that response!! Nothing unusual about building ice on mud flaps. They usually don't look like THAT, though.

The wheel hub thing is kinda cool. When things are just right, they will extend all the way out until they touch the wheel by the bead. It really looks cool then. This doesn't happen that often really. I've been Trucking 20+ years and only seen it a few times

Been there! Had a run a few years ago from new mexico where it snowed for maybe 700 miles! We were one of the only vehicles able to make the hills... Anyway, the wheels started like this.

http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h401/xj-wheeler/CIMG9438-1.jpg

And ended up like this

http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h401/xj-wheeler/CIMG9430-1-1.jpg

And our... 1/4" thick mud flap became 1 1/2' of frozen stuff.

http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h401/xj-wheeler/CIMG9378-1.jpg

Our little side step built some too... maybe three times its size.

http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h401/xj-wheeler/CIMG9425-1.jpg

Pretty cool to look back on but was a major pain then. At times we were going a blistering 6 miles. per. hour...

Believe it or not I'd rather drive the semi in those conditions. I don't know that it's necessarily better in those conditions but I have a couple of million miles behind the wheel of it so I suppose I'm more used to it. What I dislike, is pulling doubles and triples on that mess. Doubles aren't so bad you just have to go just a little bit faster than what you normally would since your second trailer is a basically an anchor. Triples are just no fun at all. In any way on the ice . Hell, there not that much fun when it's 80 degrees

Paddletrucker

Ours are set up just like those are just a little shorter. The difference is we have a lot more traffic to deal with and are highway system is just not rea.mlly set up for it. My biggest complaint pulling triples is 1. it just flat doesn't pay enough money to make it worth the wear and tear on your truck and that added fuel cost. And 2. it sucks when it's icy and 3. Dealing with traffic

The ones I am talking about are set up more like low boy extensions. The pivot point is in the center of the dolly. On theirs, the wheels for the forward trailer are under the one behind it.

Paddletrucker
01-06-2014, 11:04 PM
Oh, I think you're talking about a B train. We have those, too. You'll see grain trailers here set up that way. A b train actually doesn't use a dolly. The fifth wheel is a part of the lead trailer. I used to pull a grain buggy setup like that called a Super B train. The problem with those is they use mire room turning. The cool thing about them is that they're really maneuverable. Easy to back up with two trailers

Impurities raise the boiling point and lower the freezing point but straight water transfers the heat better.

They've been breeding w/ dogs for as long as I can remember and are not much more of a problem than a regular ol coyote but we are starting to get coyote/wolf hybrids & the occasional wolf sighting. A guy several years ago killed a young wolf thinking it was a coyote & the DNR about put him through the ringer. I know a guy personally that was surrounded & harassed by some c/w hybrids while bow hunting few years ago, he was yelling & whatnot to keep them at bay; he said he was never so glad to be back to his truck as he didn't think they were still buying his bluff. Point is, they are getting more aggressive the more the coyote is bred out of them.

Early Friday Morning ....
I tried getting a pic once I was along side of him... didn't turn out...
Late model XJ, easily 6+" of lift, 35's...the thing was a beast, and SUPER clean...
Prob didn't get wheeled much, or if it did, it was sand only.

That one white one looks good... Almost looks like it might have a slight rake towards the front though, but might just be the angle of the road or the camera or something... and that is a hellacious drop hitch.. guess he doesn't wheel it, or he'd make sure he'd keep that trailer harness tucked up out of the way when not using it...

Eastern Poland is swampy and real nasty deep mud. Western side of the country is the mountains and rock crawling. Basically these guys are iknto the Land Rovers. MP Offroad is owned by a serious Business Owner. Formerly from the company I work for. His products are sweet! Got the shop tour yesterday afterwork. Here is a picture of his Defender.
Winches front and real of all their rides. All fabrications are their own line.

You mean between the transmission and transfer case? If so, it sounds like someone may have stuck an XJ body on top of a truck frame with a divorced TC, like an early 70's Ford or Dodge 4x4.
