I have built my sliders useing tube instead of box. This will give me less surface area on the bottom of the rail

Here are the pics guys. The sliders should be far enough out to use a highlift jack on them

Here is the technical info.

First I made the pinch bar bar out of 25mm x 10mm. Drilled all the 8 holes.

Then made the plate for the chassis rail out of 100mm x 75mm x 5mm, drilled in each corner and used purlin self tappers 14 guage.

Next I cut the 40mm x 4mm tube at 310mm and made a recess in the pinch bar bar and tack welded the tube in place to the pinch bar bar and chassis plates.

Once that was done I took it off and finished the welding.

Reinstalled the slider and marked off where to trim the 40mm tube. Took slider off again and cut the 40mm bar to fit the 50mm x 4mm bar rail.

Refitted the slider and adjusted the rail fit to the tube, tack welded and removed to finish welding.

I will cut some 3mm plate and close off each end of the rail.

Paint and its ready for the trail.

Good job. How long do you estimate it took you to make these?

It took me four weekends but I didn't work solid (too hot) so I'd say you could do it in two. The trick was to tack weld it in place on the Jeep. The first one I didn't do good enough tack welds and one of the pipes from the main rail to the sub frame moved, so I had to cut it off and re-align it. The hard part was getting the rail straight cause the sub frame isn't straight.

My mirrors will turn in. Be careful of the brackets though, the plastic is brittle and can break

Nice area and good action pic. Of course you know, we need more.

I really like the look of the round tube vs. the box. Thanks for the idea.

Cheers mate. Yeah I love wheeling.

Been doing it for 8 years, killed two Samurai's, had a 94 Hilux that was great and a 2006 Hilux that was too new to kill so I got the Jeep and I love it. I've always loved Jeeps since my first Jeep Matchbox car when I was a kid :D I'm working on a 4" lift this weekend. Maybe I should make a thread for my wheeling pics.
