ok im going to be lifting my jeep soon i already got the lift its a rusty's off road 4.5 spring pack kit with adj trac bar & lower arms with JKS quick disco's and im looking for everything i might need to get it done all at once or at least im hoping to, So i ve come across threads that say you can use a front DS out of an xj but most only say they use it with a HnT but im wanting to know if it ll work with an ADVANCE ADAPTERS SYE ? and if so what fixed yoke to get it with ? because i dont know what size U-JOINT comes with the front DS so if someone could please help me that would be great

1310 ujoint on the CV. But I think that the front drive shaft trick will not work on the AA unit because it is shorter than the HNT set up.

so my best bet would be to get a HnT to work with the front DS ? im trying to save some $ and getting a tom woods would brake the budget (wow they cost a lot) so im looking for good ways to do so but thank you for the advice its a good thing i didnt buy the AA SYE already and do you know what brand of HnT would be the best for the $ ?

As far as I know, there is only one. Iron Rock Offroad

not sure what kit you have but i've used the front shaft in the rear (afterSYE install) several times , i will admit it doesn't work everytime

I goofed up the install of my Iron Rock Offroad hack and tap, and ended up purchasing the below and running it with the same front driveshaft I got when I purchased the hack and tap.

Also running a 4.5" of lift. It's definitely extended a bit more, but there is still some extension left. I have not check to see if it's possible to fully extend it in "normal" flexing situation, but thus far haven't had any troubles. Oh yeah, auto trans, 231, and 8.25 rear as that all makes a difference on the distance transfer case to rear end...so your mileage may vary.

my xj is also an auto and the rear is also a 8.25... and what yoke did you get on your SYE because it asks if i want a 1310 u joint cv style or none cv and a couple other options i think and im new to this lift biz so im on the learning curve

You are going to want the 1310 cv joint style.

Yeah, I didn't have an option on mine. It just came with whatever the stock jeep driveshaft ujoint is... So I'm assuming that's the 1310 based on 4.3's response...

The 1310 is the standard Jeep u joint. The only difference between the CV and non CV yoke is not the ujoint, but the spacing in the bolt holes and whether or not it has threads in it.

ok i found a front DS today at a local JY and it came out of a 94 grand & got lucky because it was already taken out and put in the back so i didnt get all dirty (HELLS YEAH) and fully extended its like 33 inches and looks like its in good shape so is this going to be long enough? & now i need to make my choice on what to do to the t case

hmm well i have a dilemma now... i bought the AA SYE and i rebuilt a front driveshaft and was gonna run that as my setup BUT what im reading it might or might not work! ;-/ hmm i guess im just gonna have to try it. It would suck to install the SYE and have the shaft not work though.

The quick way to figure it out is just to measure the distance and compare it to the length of the front shaft.

you had the front ds on the jeep before you put on the lift. will it be able to extend far enough to work with the 4.5' lift. if so how much extension is there left? any problems with the install?
