I just got my new bumper for my jeep and when i was installing it i went to take off the power steering pump and broke two of the three bolts off! :mad0090: So... Do you guys think its worth buying a new steering pump OR taking the pump out and drilling out the broken bolt? Oh and if i drill it out whats the best way to do this!? thanks for your help!

Depends on how old the pump is and if it is leaking. lots of pb blaster and a really good quality easy out will get those suckers out with out harming the pump. I have a set of cobalt bits I use to drill the holes for my easy outs when I have to use them. I learned the hard way on my bike about using cheep easy outs, broke one off in a fender bolt that broke, and it took three days to get the sucker fixed after that.

oh yeah i alway hated using easy outs because they always break! so you drilled a small hole then used the easy out?

I try to drill as large a hole as possible, the larger the easy out, the less likely it will fail at getting out what you want out. That's where I pooed the schrooch on my bike, tried to use the smallest possible, big mistake, broke it off in the bolt and then took three days, four cobalt bits to drill that sucker out.

Be sure to grind the break flush and use a center punch to mark the center before you start to keep the drill bit from wandering.
