CARGO AREA THAT IS!! I was surfing this thing we call the information super highway and looking at a few pics of some storage ideas for the XJ, so I decided to highjack the idea and see what y'all are workin with or have planned.

I would also like some ideas or a list of ABSOLUTE necessity gear and or parts to take with you on the trail and the road. I have a few ideas of what I am going to do with all that space in the back, but would love some feedback and PICS from everyone on here. I will be attempting a build this weekend and will definitely take some pics of the progress. Thanks in advance for your time!

I picked this Mountaineering rack locally for $75. Lots more room now. I have all my stuff on the top leaving the floor of the cargo area open.

I would add, spare tire, jacks (2), cb radio, anti-snap back blanket, ground tarp, tree trunk protector, Fire extinguisher, Insect repellant, Camera, cell phone. I also try to always have a trail buddy in a second vehicle when going to new places particularly.

Wow, some of these rigs must weigh a couple of tons LOL

I try to travel light, since a light rig wheels better than a heavy one. I advocate a full size spare, tools and building the rig to be bullet proof enough to not break every five minutes. Probably the biggest thing is to not over tire and lock a rig so it breaks. Might not be as much fun, but it doesn't break parts.

yeah i searched for one as well.... best thing to do is just let the imgination take over and buy some wood... remember to anchor that thing down AND line it with something so you dont have to hear the clinking noise all day long!

If I add a set of drawers, I'll fab em up in aluminum so the weight isn't such a factor. I found some thick wall alum. square tubing for a roof rack, now I just have to get the money to buy the materials.

Full size spare, hi lift and bottle jack, and what ever parts you may or someone else may need on a specific ride. I also like a small chunk of plywood for a jack base.

Duct tape and BFH is all you need....
If it moves and shouldn't then use the duct tape....
If it does not move and should, use the BFH

they don;t take much space in your glove box and you can even use the duct tape to tape the BFH so that it doesn;t rattle.... how beautiful is that ?

Super easy to build ,a day and some 1" square tube. I used some bolt down plates so its pinned at the bottom and can be pulled out in a second. the tire mount is an old TJ mount thats welded on. I can do measurements if you want.I know have a net in front of it . I guess more pics are needed but copy all you want !!
