90/96 cherokee parts swap

ok i have a 90 limited that runs great and i am buying a 96 that overheats but is only a 2wd.can i use my tranny and front out of my 90 to convert the 96 to 4x4...would it be a plug and play or what.90 has 4.0,auto and 242 tcase...96 is 4.0 ho,auto and 2wd.i will swap in both my front and rear axles...have a 8 3/4 rear...i think will post pics soon.

yes it should be a plug and play even the plugs should be the same but use the tcm (transmission control module) from the 96 allso make sure all the sensors are from the 96.

im using a 90 trans in my 95 (aw4)

well just went out and messured it....its a 35...oh well...i have a 8.8 in my ranger i can swap over.

well i got the 96...its a grand cherokee.2wd...all it needs is a water pump....i stole it for $400.it will stay 2wd and be my dd.i sold the 90 xj...got an offer i could not refuse.now will be looking for another 4x4 cherokee here real soon.
