So I have a 3" lift and looking for an adjustable track bar. I have found a bunch but they are all for 4" of lift and larger. I am getting some serious death wobble at about 50 mph and I'm just trying to go down the list of parts to replace. Any recommendations?

Well.....I wanna get this taken care of soon. Should be getting taxes hopefully in the next few days. Got some bills to take care of and get my wife a new car but I will have a little left over to buy some parts.

Noticed this too.... was going to purchase one, as an upgrade for the standard adj. trac bar I have, once I got my other front end parts... so I could get it all aligned in one alignment stop..

You might want to check your toe setting I ran a stock track bar for a couple yrs when I had my 3" lift it might help tell you find the track bar you want.

You dont need to change your track bar with a 3" lift providing the bushings are good and the bolts are tight.

So should I just buy new bushings and see if that makes a difference?

What I would do if I were in this situation is: First thing, get somebody to turn the steering wheel back and forth, while you look at the track bar for movement. Look at the bushing on the axle end and the tie rod end on the frame end. Now if its a bad bushing I would just replace it, they are cheap. Now if its the TRE on the frame side, its made onto the track bar so you would have to get another track bar. If thats the case I would get an adjustable one. It is true you don't need one for 3" lift. But with an adjustable one, you won't need to upgrade it if you decide on lifting more. And if you stay at 3", you now have a trackbar that is completely rebuildable on both ends. Thats what I would do.

Thanks man!! Awesome advice. Kinda what I was thinking anyways. It certainly won't hurt to get a new one and replace the bushings at the same time.

If you are lookin for a trackbar, go IronMan4x4fab. He built me one and it's made for a tank. Totally blew away the rough country bar I had on previously. It's overbuilt, underpriced, and quality! You can't go wrong with that dude.

So lets say that I am interested in replacing everything....trackbar...pitman....drag link....tie rod....etc. Can IronMan4x4fab do all those or is there one web site besides...say..quadratec that could be recommended? Or should I piece it together using different manufacturers?

Andy makes trackbars, control arms, tie rods, shackles, long arms, but he does not make pitman arms or draglinks. I bet he could fab up a draglink to go along with his beefy tie rod if you request one. He does custom work. As for the pitman arm, there's some on the market that'll work but just remember to drop your trackbar if you decide to use a drop pitman arm to keep the angles parallel. I'd avoid a DPA unless you were in the 7"+ range.

Ok guys... Took some video. The first one is of a little play in the drag link at the pitman arm. Don't know how well you can see it. The second is me wiggling the drag link and everything moves. Not sure if it's supposed to move that much. Whatcha guys think?

It works on my computer. When using photobucket, they give you four links to use under the picture. Use the last one at the bottom and post that link here. It will show up when someone views the post.

But the draglink turning like that is normal. The tie rod allows a little roll. What you don't want is side to side play. I usually put my hand around the tie rod and feel for a clunk or movement. Sometimes it's so little that you can't really see it while the joint is moving back and forth.

So go back outside and have my bro turn the steering wheel back and forth and grab the tie rod?

Well I can't tell if your joints are bad but if you said you saw little play in the joints then they should be replaced.

Check the following:

tie rods in steering
steering box bolts
trackbar frame side and axle side bolts
hub bearings
ball joints
upper arm bushings
lower arm bushings
tire balance
alignment

That is a basic check list in figuring out the death wobble.

Not sure if it's called a bracket but this is what my track bar bracket looks like.

Is that gap too big? Like it's been pressed out? And I def feel a clunk holding the tie rod.

Did you pull that thing out of the ocean? lol that's some good corrosion there. If the bracket or joint is in any way moving or clunking, it needs replaced. The trackbar and it's joints need to be firm with little to no give to keep that axle steady and centered.

LOL!!! Well, I'm really trying to find out where this horrible wobble is coming from. Need to figure out what parts I need to replace. Ball joints were done last weekend. So its not that. Taxes will be here soon and fortunately the wife agrees that there is something wrong so I dont need to convince her it needs to be fixed. I have brand new TRE's so that's one thing I don't need to buy.
