My CCW pistol was an HK USP Compact .40 Until it was stolen. So I let my CCW lapse.

I'd like to have an expensive gun, but I only want one that is expensive enough to be reliable, and so I won't be too upset when the police take if from me during the investigation of a justified shooting. Yeah I'd get it back eventually but I'd be :pee:'sed if they confiscated my Kimber!

I carry a Beretta FS 9mm, and a Smith&Wesson model 41 .22, then theres the :smiley-laughing021::thumbsup:ThompsonCenter 44Mag single shot that also has a 30-06 barrel. The FS is my main carry with 2 15 round mags and 2 20 round mags. total mags on hand = 12. I'm ready for any fire fight I suppose.

The Sig P6 will make you look like a master at the range, that thing is dead on every shot and very forgiving on trigger flinch.

I say if you feel soo threatened to always carry, move............
Folks around these parts carry everything under the sun........
I say: why?
It's considered rural ruff......
I consider it..........lame....

Sure, my driveways long.........it allows lots of time to reload, but the hole carrying thing is not considered in this household........we're not that repressed.........even in rural Kentucky.

Sorry, jist my 2_cents.....

Hmmmmm...that being said maybe this thread's not for you. It's kind of like the "jeep thing", it's a gun nut thing, not to mention exercising one of my freedoms that most of the world has given up.

THAT being said, concealed carry is not for everyone, it's sounds all "John Wayne" but, along with the license and the priviledge, comes a lot of responsibility.

That would be my 2 cents worth. ( I refrained from giving the whole dollars worth!):D

Its not about feeling threatened or being repressed. Its about exercising a right that you have. By your same reasoning it would be like saying" Why talk bad about the President, He hasn't done anything bad to me. To talk bad about him is just lame." In my opinion there is nothing lame about exercising your 2nd amendment right, just as its not lame to exercise your 1st amendment right, or any other.

I can put any weapon, in any factory provided compartment in my vehical in this state, and not need a 'carry' lisense in this state.........why do I need to talk about it?

Get close enough, I'd rather hook ya if you give me that reason, that way we can have a beer later and laugh about it...........no toe tags or cops envolved, some things I'll never understand........

Well without sounding like a total redneck, our "diversity" around here is much much different. How many Mexican drug cartels does KY have that are more equipped than the police?

interesting discussion actually (sorry to highjack the thread ;)) since these 2 sides of the story is exactly how I feel and for that reason I still have the paperwork for the license in my desk drawer....
If I don't put myself in difficult situations, I don;t need one.... but the "bad guys" have them and they can strike anywhere... oh well I still lean toward Detours point of view more....
This said I still think i am a gun nut and own a bunch of different weapons and I use them as much as I can.....

I simply dont feel the need, yet can pack any hand gun I want in my vehical in this state without a permit, as long as it's in a factory created position within the vehical, not under the seat........if I do, I dont wish to discuss it, my balls are no larger, this area is considered rough, we consider it lame coming from New England.......bunch of 'F'ing posers in our eyes........step up and step closer.................whatever......:sad0147:

Im sure that "step up and step closer" concept works great in KY and the ol' rough and tuff New England. BUT you know what happens when you go to get in a fist fight in Houston.....you get SHOT.

I completely understand where your coming from... But I live in a great town called Port Charlotte Fl right next to Punta Gorda and ita a very peaceful town, retirement people all around and so for and I've live here for 27 years and I love it here and nowadays things are getting a little rough with the up bring of kids and violents... Yeah I can fight hand to hand but nowadays these kids are cayying illegal weapons off the street and the way the economy is going these bad guys and gals are doing anything on the street to get what they want and not only on the street but they are breaking into our homes to get want they want and if it wasn't for the violents that we have I wouldnt have a gun, but it's getting so bad where ever you go... So its no point in moving cause it's everywhere and why should I move? I've moved here with a crime rate of 10% and now its up to 38% not bad but its can happen when you least expect it... I'm not like a guy who looking to use the gun I just want to protect myself or anyone that may be life threated...
All honesty, I would HATE to shoot and kill anyone BUT.... you have to see it this way its either you life or theirs.... You make the choice and I know if one day your walking unarmed and someone pulls a kinfe or a gun on you... what would you be thinking in your mind to stop this threat? Youd wish you had a gun..... I'm not saying your wrong or right but we need to face it this world is going to shame cause our goverment is not making the right choices...So who knows whats going to happen next?

Heres a good story I've seen in the paper... theres this one gal that HATES the gun law carry and thought the same thing you did....So one night as she was walking to her parked car in this nice ALOMST crime free place and she went to open her car door a guy came up behind her and told her to get into the car and he had a knife... another guy saw what was happening and got up to him fast enough and drew his side arm and forced the robber or rapist to the ground til the police arrive... and the lady was so blessed that she was saved, Well now she carries a gun and a stun gun with her at all times..... Hmmm now I think now that she thought to herself and said "wow, I was a victim and never thought I would be well not anymore"

If your local Government allows you to carry a weapon and you don't you are just a victim waiting to happen.

It doesn't matter what kind of society we live in, there will always be varying levels of threats.

Most won't require a firearm, but some will. I'd rather be prepared and have that be my option than HOPE I don't need it.

It's a huge responsibility, and I am sure there are some people that shouldn't have a firearm because they wouldn't use it and it would just be taken from them and used against them.

For some of us it is part of the job.
In miami, back in the 80's retired people were given the right to carry with out a permit, the armed robbery rate dropped nearly instantly. It's like every thing else for most people, a matter of choice.
Many don't carry because they don't believe in doing so, that happened even in the days of the old west. It doesn't mean your trying to be Macho or that your Paranoid.

Once I was unfortunate enough, in a snow event, to be forced off the road and down a steep inclined to the bottom of a brush covered area. A State Trooper passing by up on the highway heard my three shots into the dirt and stopped to find me. It was one of the times of intense cold here and probably saved my life because I was able to signal with the only noise maker that was working on my destroyed car.

What a great story, and an excellent example of more than one use of a tool. That's all a gun is, a tool.

Hoping to send off for my non-resident Florida permit in the next month or so when the wife approves the funds.
Since the base exchange is now selling weapons I am looking at picking up a Springfield XDm Compact 9mm. I think with 20 rounds I will be okay.

VERY nice pistol. I've shot and like them a lot, very smooth.

Also, its quality. Not quantity.
