i have heard that you can use a front axle off a jeep for the rear axle after you put on a SYE, if that is true what is the max lift you can use it on?

I am assuming you mean front driveshaft. I have seen them used up to a 7" lift, not sure what the min and max is but I will check around and see what I can find out

Thanks Jim, almost got me going down some other mod with that one. Yes, the stock front drive shaft is used with the IRO HacknTap SYE

Are there any vehicles that use an offcenter rear axle? I thought some older land rovers did...

yes i did mean front drive shaft. i have a 98 jeep cherokee i am getting ready to lift and i have a 1996 jeep cherokee with a blown engine i have for parts, are the drive shafts from the 96 work? i wasnt sure if on the earlier years would work? i wasnt sure if different years where different lengths.

As far as I know the only differences are that the manual transmission ones are longer, and probably couldn't be used. But if its a front drive shaft out of an automatic xj, and your gonna use it in the rear of an xj that is an automatic it should work fine.
