Well this year is the Rugby world cup in NZ.

At least 2 members in here are interested because they come from countries that have a rugby tradition and I expect Aussies and other to join in too ;)


What is Rugby ?

I am tempted to say it is just a jersey but heck I know that I hate when France doesn;t play in Blue ;) so I guess it does matter...

No matter what you know that the All Blacks will always be associated with the Black, the Irish with the Green, the French with the Blue and the Aussis with the orange.....

it is not really an issue Mark, they chose their colors... away, home and a third one...

France as Home blue, Away White and optional red (go figure, colors that make sense lol) I have seen France play in red only once

England is a good team (ouch did i admit to that ? lol) and they have nothing to prove, but yes it is undermining the other team spirit ;) and that is the goal. According to the article France is said to have done the same to have the blacks play in silver.... it is part of the game I guess lol

I first played for Blackwater here in Lynchburg as an inside/outside center and then for ODU (Old Dominion University) in Norfolk, VA as 2nd Row. Got to watch a NZ Rugby game today on AFN tv channel.. first time I have ever really watched a match.. looks really cool.. def. different than any football game though.. maybe once I figure it all out, it will all make more sense.. but still fun to watch anyways.. Well it is cultural ;) and I know that if they were showing more of the game, it would rapidly become more popular in the US. Rules are complicated yet simple in comparison to football for example...

Allow for stupidly unbalanced scores (like 87 to 10) that some like here... the I crushed the other team factor ;)
It is a physical full contact sport.

Most importantly it is a game that teaches humility, strength, respect, friendship ;)

Only downside, and I also believe that soccer suffers the same things, it is difficult to interrupt the game to place ads on TV... Those are full paced sports.


(rant again) The US rugby federation has missed an opportunity for a great way to promote the sport... who is in the USA interested enough in the game to pay $25 per game ? am really wondering what kind of benefit they made with he pay per view ;) (end of rant)

tis a great game to play.....

started to play it when i was 5.. gave up when i was about 37....

still played over 35s up till about 3 years ago....

have ruptured ligaments in both ankles,, broken ribs, dodgy knee now..broken nose a few times.. heaps of stitches in the old head, and been knocked out a few....man i miss that game..:crazy:

OK I am back.....
Congrats to the Blacks for sure... but now I have to find a copy of the game and watch it... losing 8-7 to the blacks in a world cup final at home ? I consider this NOT a defeat ;)
I hope they put up a good fight.....

Wayne I have been a loosehead prop / hooker for several years in my youth lol.... dislocated shoulder too many times, countless broken nose and I am wondering if my blurry vision doesn;t come from the countless head to head encounters I have made.... Knees are bad and I can;t really play....

But I love the game.....
