I've only ever had the Rough Country lift on my Jeep. I purchased it because it was the best bang for the buck and had good reviews and reports of excellent customer service.

I voted junkyard.... because this is the only thing I know lol. It is cheap, it works for mild lift I guess and over all, it forces you to study and learn about your jeep and the suspension system.... it was a total win win situation for me...

Now if my jeep was not a learning project for me and I had a newer one, and I had money, I would probably think different....

Most of them will do well with 3" and doesn't matter too much what brand you use at that height. It is when you go over 3" that you need to be fussy.

I voted Rough Country.I have a BDS which is rather expensive.I only purchased it because it has a no question guarantee against parts breakage for as long as you own the kit,to the original purchaser of course. If I had to do it all over again,Rough Country would be my first choice.Skyjacker is a good choice also, had one on my 94 F-150 xtra cab-Big Red.4" Lift with
35's,it was sweet!

thanks guys i am in a bit of a tossup due to the MVI laws here cause we are only aloud to have up to a 3.9 inch lift on our rigs and i have 235-75-15 tire on now and as everyone on here knows that the jeeps come stock with a 215-75-15 so i am trying to find out what the stock bumper hight is so i can figure out if i am able to put the 3 inch on or go with the little 1.5 lift
if anyone knows the stock height can ya let me know it would help me out a lot

I dont know the stock height but I do know that a stock cherokee can accommodate a 30x9.50-15 without any modifications to the ride height. 30x9.50x15 is equivalent to a 235/75R-15 so you should be good with the 3" lift.

The stock height is 17.5 F and 17.0 R measured from center hub to the bottom of the fender flare. as posted here http://www.cherokeetalk.com/forum/f20/stock-ride-height-7707/

I voted Junkyard. Like Steph said doing a junkyard lift is a learning experience on everything under the XJ. I myself am doing a 4.5 to 5 inch jy style. Once it is all in hand I will post a build thread on it. Should be fun and one hell of a challenge for a rookie wheeler to do.

I voted Rough Country because it's the only lift I've ever bought, and it's the best quality and performance for the money in my opinion. When I go taller I will most likely buy my new lift kit from RC as well.

I voted Rough Country. Course I am probably a bit biased. But I got mine for a great price. But then there is the other half of that. They also have a great lifetime warranty and freaking awesome cutomer service. The parts that came with my lift was everything I needed to lift it, and everything was high quality strong parts. But which ever way you go, just make sure you post pics :D

I'm going to be getting a Clayton's Off Road kit. The ARcrawlers all said I could not go wrong with them, so, I'm going to stick with their recomendation on the lift kit.

I have the same lift kit, I didn't get a pitman arm or t-case drop, still got stock brake lines too. Seems to be fine on my xj with no death wobble or steering issues. You really don't have to have longarms either unless you do serious articulating Off-Road. If I go any higher though, I plan to get the full meal deal. You're probably gonna have to take off the panhard bar and maybe one of the LCA's to get the second coil and shock in, that's what I had to do. Damn thing wouldn't line up on the front passenger side till I unbolted the LCA, then I had to unbolt the panhard bar to get the LCA back on... it was a rainy nightmare... lol

All jeeps are different when it come to the tc drop/ sye. Sometimes you can get away without needing either with the smaller lifts and sometimes not. If you start having bad vibes the tc drop is a easy and least expensive fix and not that hard to install.

As far as the drop pitman, I'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong but I think you should be fine up to 3".

A pitman are drop is not needed with at three inch lift. If you have driveline vibes, ask and I will tell you how to fix them for a few bucks.

i started to install the lift today got the front done and had to stop to get the wife from work to go get some food so will finish the rear tomorrow
4.3LXJ what were the fixes for the vibes
i also have a bit of a clunk when i need to stop quickly it sounds like it coming from the rear i did add a leaf 2 years ago from a F-150 and it might of put the drive angle out a bit will see if it goes away after the kit leafs are in

You shouldn't have any problem with a 3" lift unless you use a shackle to achieve the lift. But if you do, you will need to add a shim to the rear spring pack. The geometry needs to look like this.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/warriorsuspension/2joint_angle.gif

You need to get an angle finder, about $10 and put it on the fill plug of the tcase and the yoke on the diff. If the angle difference is more than about 3°, then get a shim that will make up the difference. You will also need new center pins.

its the add a leaf kit and it came with new center bolts, but when i added the f150 leaf i took out one of the jeep leafs would i be best to take out the ford leaf and put in the new or just add the new one to what i got in now.i will check the angle if it be4 i unbolt anything

I bought RE at the time since I wanted to replace my leafs, coils and shocks so it was the reasonable thing to do (go with a complete kit).
If you have a nice junkyard, it worth a try.
