Well perhaps I just don't pay attention, but on Sunday's Xtreme4x4 they were using a electronic locker. An EATON! It appeared to function much like the ARB minus the air compressor. This meets my requirement of no cables to be pulled or released to engage disengage the locker and it doesn't appear to have clutches inside!

Does anyone have any information on the EATON e-lockers? It appears to be available for the DANA 30 but not the C8.25.

Looks like the FINALLY came out with the D30 version. I waited for awhile and then ended up going with the Auburn ECTED. I've got the eaton D44 version in my rear axle, and will be throwing one in my front D44 when I get it done. I've been really impressed with the rear locker. No waiting for a pump to get the lines up to pressure. Just flip a switch slowly drive and it engages. No noise :D not that is a big deal.

I have the Eaton E-locker in the Orange comp XJ (Dana 44 Front) and this thing has taken nothing but $hit and abuse since it was installed. It crushed factory axles , I went chromies in the front and now I feel damn near indestructible even with the flotation device pitbulls. I opted for it due to it's simplicity add 12 volts and your locked, break the wires and you can yard speaker wire in a pinch to get it going,...

HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!!!

I found it for 750.00 http://www.4wheelparts.com/

Yeah, they are basically the same price as an ARB now, but you still don't have to buy a pump afterwards. The 4wheelparts is a good buy. When I got the one for my rear axle, they were fairly new on the market, and think I paid $650 for it.

They do have some advantages for sure over air lines.

Yeah, and no seals to break/leak. Now arb as made better o-rings but you can still blow through them if the pressure goes to high. For me the best thing arb as going for them is their track record...they are a great locker. I knew/know I was taking a chance on a new product, but eaton already had a good track record with their other lockers, so I took it. I already had a C02 tank and electric locker seemed like a good choice. I've been really impressed with the eaton and would recommend it to anyone.

do you have to do anything different to mantain it than any other locker (lub, adjustmentsor what ever)?

Just gear oil and ford friction modifier and the friction modifier stinks to high hell!

Jenssen, I use power punch, the black stuff for my diffs. It doesn't stink and has MoS2 in it to quiet gears. Good stuff.

Honestly I can't say I have heard of it,.. The gear centre recommended the ford stuff, I didn't question it, picked two bottles up tossed it in the frankenstang and went on with my day,... It was 35 celcius ,... Fawk me it took days to get the stink out an it was in sealed bottles in plastic ziplock bags!

Did you ever see the little parts counter demo a few years back that had some heavy oil looking stuff in a bunch of gears that you would crank? Lucas oil has one like it now. I don't know if you get that stuff up there, but it was fun to watch the oil climb the gears. Power Punch had the original display. It comes in a honey colored oil additive, which in its pure state is a good assembly grease for engines and the black stuff for gear boxes.

There are no e lockers for the chrysler 8.25. I've checked Eaton and Auburn, both make one for the Dana models 30,35,44,60. guess I'll be changing my rear to a D44 so I can have matching lockers front and rear.

The Auburn e-locker has an equally good rep as the Eaton. I was planning to use an Auburn out back and an Eaton up front. Cheaper and easier than hunting down a D44 for the rear.

Thanks Mike, I agree that those are six of one half a dozen of the other. I don't care if they match, and using one of each will make it way less hassle to locker up front and rear. I went to the Auburn site and the Eaton site.

This doesn't appear to be an ECTED model, it shows it to be a LSD. They do show an ECTED model for the D30.

http://www.eaton.com/ecm/groups/public/@pub/@eaton/@per/documents/content/ct_128302.pdf page 7 has the jeeps on it and shows the chry.8.375 only and no e-locker option for that even.

i went to Autorama in detroit, mi and Eaton had a both there with all there lockers. The E-Locker look and seemed really good! with all the research i did i think going with that! One Question i have though is... if its 12v going to your locker through the axle how water tight is that? i don't want anything to short out!im

LizardRunner

The gromet would be pretty water tight. A little rtv applyed on the outside would be extra insurance. Just be sure to fully clean to bare metal before applying so it will stick and seal. I'm wanting e-lockers front and rear for da lizard.
