So I saw the new GC commercial and it said they had double sealed doors. Has anyone done this, seen it done, knows what is involved. I would love to do semi-deep water crossings but my XJ will be my DD for awhile yet and dont really want a TON of water in the cabin area. Thanks In advance for your thoughts!

PS Pics would be GREAT!! :camera::thumbsup::camera:

Basically it just has a piece of weather stripping around the inside of the door jamb, and another piece of weather stripping around the perimeter of the door.

I was kinda thinking it had something to do with the weatherstrip... but how do you apply it.. and does it in turn really make the doors resist water seep through more so than normal. And that would be great Lizard if you get some pics! Thanks!

gorilla snot holds weather stripping on tight. that's 3-M weatherstrip adhesive if your going to go looking for it at the auto parts store. comes in two colors, yellow (hence the snot moniker) and black.

due to my eyes going wankers yesterday, the pics will be coming tonight. I have to take them, then use PSP to put in the location for the second strip then will post em up.

http://www.xjtalk.com/picture.php?pictureid=2069&albumid=232&dl=1296094240&thumb=1 This is the location of the stock weather strip on Da Lizards doors.

http://www.xjtalk.com/picture.php?pictureid=2070&albumid=232&dl=1296094240&thumb=1 This is where I'm going to add a second weather strip along the bottom of the doors, a half round profile should work all the way around the body door jamb. looks like one about 1/2" tall should work pretty well.

http://www.xjtalk.com/picture.php?pictureid=2068&albumid=232&dl=1296094240&thumb=1 This is a continuation of that 1/2" tall weather strip line I'm going to try and use. Now, as for stopping water entering, if I get a good seal, it should make it pretty water tight, probably not like the VW I used to have long ago but I think it will suffice. I'm going to have to get some soft clay to make sure I get the right size weather strip. Just roll out some like a rope and place it along the area I plan on sticking the real weather strip. It will squish and then I can measure it to determine the right size weather strip to buy.

If these pics aren't clear enough the big ones are on LizardRunners Tech Pics

This seems like a cool plan... think I'll stick with my standard seal for now.. until it starts to leak... then I'll look into going dual seals...

You should have seen the Jeep commercials in the 50s. They had one with a CJ5 in about 12" of water on a lake bottom driven by a guy in SCUBA gear. Now that is water Wayne
