This is highly contingent on many factors. If you've paid attention in the past they often say stuff like this and it doesn't happen.

Remember too that the mass media likes to say things to shock you and get you talking. They love blizzards, hurricanes, and murders for this reason. FOX News has a "NEWS ALERT" about 50 times a day.

As they said in the news blerp I saw the guy said that we should do something about this now. It all goes back to our reliance on foreign oil. We need to drill here, now!

Well oil prices are based on our dollar,,,and because Washington is printing money like its going out of style which devalues the dollar,,,,,,,thats one reason its going up,,,,,,,,and then we have the moratorium on drilling that was just the greatest idea ever because of the BP accident which by the way that same well could have been tapped in 600ft. of water instead of the couple thousand they were forced to drill in because nobody likes looking at oil rigs............This is why were paying out the butt for it and will only get worse so get ready!!

I went there to that SAME kroger yesterday... I used my kroger plus and got a .10 discount per gallon... Ive used it for the last year and EVERYtime I get the .10 cent discount!!!

I drive 60 miles a day to work and home, it adds up! And we have to drive it cause thats the only way to get to work! Its silly we pay this when we have resources here right off our coasts that could bring prices down and were not using them to make it easier on people. But thats what you get when environMENTALism has gone crazy in the world! People need to wake up. Just sayin.

All countries pay the same price for oil if it comes from the arab nations. All of Europe is more dependent on arab oil than the US or Canada, so they pay more for the refined products. Japan is probably the highest per gal or litre, heck a golf ball there is over 5 dollars.

Gas in Canton Ohio has been jumping between $2.95 - $3.15 for reg. for a couple of weeks.
The price of gas is set more by the Commodities Market than any thing else. War in Iraq price goes up. Unrest in Egypt price goes up. Because there might be a shortage. Just might. Golf oil spill, price goes down because no one wanted to be associated with oil. Bad P.R.

It's all high dollar gambling.

For what it cost to fill up old whitey it seems like they have a 30 gallon tank. Also I think they slowed the pumps down to make it seem like your getting more petrol. In hot climates it's better to fill up either early in morning or late evening because gas expands with heat.

Gas here ranges from $4.09 to $4.19 for regular and is actually cheaper up on the hill than here in the city. In the more remote mountian areas its $5.00+. Somebody needs to stop this crap ASAP. The sad fact of it is , it doesn't cost that much to make and when it comes to deisel and antifreeze they are by products of refineing gas so why are they so high?

LizardRunner
05-03-2011, 11:23 AM
here in my area regular is now 3.78 and premium for my bike and boat is at 4.11. Gas seems to always go crazy just because the refiners can charge what ever they decide to charge with no consequences from government. As far as refining goes. the tower puts off (from bottom to top) tars and gunks, diesel #3 diesel #2 diesel #1, Gasoline then the lighter than gas hydrocarbons. Ethelene glycol is a seperate chemical plant all together but uses some of those lighter than gas hydrocarbons in the synthisis process. At least that's the way my memory of the chemistry spits it back to me.

Crude-oil futures settled below $100 a barrel Wednesday, and gasoline plunged nearly eight percent, after the New York Mercantile Exchange briefly halted trading and raised daily trading limits for certain energy contracts.

Crude for June delivery declined $5.67, or 5.5 percent, to settle at $98.21 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, after dipping as low as $97.50.

“Lots of eyes were focused on any slight jump in [US] fuel inventories. They got it and assumed the bull’s kaput,” said Richard Hastings, a macro strategist at Global Hunter Securities. “The resulting move in price was big enough to get the CME to halt trading, which only worsens the extreme views.”

CME Group, which owns the New York Mercantile Exchange, briefly halted trading in oil, heating-oil and gasoline futures after the June gasoline contract hit its daily price limit. CME also boosted daily price limits for crude oil to $20 and for heating oil and gasoline to $0.50.

“A short trading halt only occurs when there is high volatility in the price to give the market a little breathing space,” said James Williams, an economist at WTRG Economics.

Gasoline futures fell 7.6 percent, with June gasoline losing 26 cents to finish at $3.12 a gallon, after dropping by as much as nine percent to $3.077.

Some traders expect flooding along the Mississippi River to affect refineries in Louisiana.

If your in the West Houston area........Hwy 6 and Old Richmond Road in Sugar Land, there is a Chevron station selling gas for $3.54 per gallon. I filled up there.

Only catch is you have to pay cash. No debit card, no check, no credit card.

$3.49 a gallon at Chevron just North of 59 on Crabb River Road.

No gimmick here. Bucees is right across the street. $3.59 a gallon there, and it is $3.39 if you also get a car wash.
