Hi everyone, I am new to this forum,
My name is David, My son and son in law is the one's that got me back into the 4x4 scene. I wanted to get my son a vehicle to drive when he turned 16 so he started looking at the kinds he liked. The Jeep XJ was what he wanted the most. So we started keeping a eye out for one. I know the one we picked out needed a lot of work but, I figure once it is done we will know exactly what we have.
We have had a lot of fun working on it. Right now it is torn apart, we are fixing the door hinge, tranny cooler lines, new stereo, wiper blade motor needed to be welded back on its brace. And the list goes on.
We have plan on getting a RE 2" add a leaf budget kit, 31" tires on black steel wheels for the trails, 1 1/4" wheel spacers, build our safari rack and do the body and paint work. It will be good to hear from you guys and gals that have already been there done that. Chow for now, David

First, :welcome: to xjtalk

Tony, the owner will look into it shortly I am sure. We have been having some issues in this area recently. Software thing I think.

As far as the lift goes, you might be happier with a three inch lift with the 31s. I did this for years and it worked well with that tire size. Also with the 2" spacers you will need shocks anyway because yours will be too short. The cost difference then is not much and you will like the extra inch.

Correct me if I am wrong but you are unable to post pictures? If so...

Forum attachment quota has been reached

You've run out of space. We have a very limited amount of space for pictures. What you do is use a picture hosting service, like photobucket. Here is a link on how to post a picture.

Let me know if you need help. We really like seeing the pictures!

These are some shots of our rig when we first got it and also how it sits with the new tires. We need to get the lift before we actually get to keep them on. I would rather not do any trimming on the fenders just yet.

Nice first vehicle there... Wish I could have started off where he is... Can't wait to see it after you guys get the lift in, w/ the 31's in their perm. place.. Also.. you have already started off on the right side, by picking up a green XJ... can't go wrong from there!! LOL..
