What has everyone used to spray down their engine with to clean it? I'm wanting to clean it up pretty good so I can see where my leaks are coming from?

the last time I did that to mine, I just went to the local car wash and used the "engine degreaser" button using all it would put out. I waited about 5 minutes (I was the only one there), I switched to rinse and let it rip, after two sets of quarters it was all clean in there with a lot of it now on the outside so I had to wash and rinse the lizard. got home and found that I have a lot of territory markers (leaks) at least the valve cover didn't leak.

Gunk degreaser works pretty well too but is a little more money to use for a whole engine compartment. I have also resorted to going to a truck stop for a steam cleaning in the past.

Back when I was in high school (man that makes me feel old), there was a product that was actually made for it. Man, I can't remember the name. You would shake the can real good spray the engine and let it sit. The hit it with a HP hose.

Yamaha sells some awesome stuff for degreasing. I'm not sure if it is powersports or marine. I used it on outboard motors when used to work on them. Sorry I can't remember the name, a good dealer should know.

I used purple degreaser you can get at Walmart it's about 5 buck a gallon.. it says to mix a little water with it but I dont I use it straight let it sit for about 5 mins then spray more on, use a pressure washer to take it off is the best way to get the hard to reach areas.. you can also use a little detail brush to scrub some of the heavy build up too if you like...

I'm a Castrol Super Clean fan myself.
And I save my old tooth brushes for those 'hard to reach areas'......
