Axle question

Hey i was wondering if anyone could tell me if any xj came stock with LSD diff. I want to put a locker in but a stock unit would be better for a daily driver. I found a couple at the local salvage yard and have everal to choose from.

yes some came with a lsd, but the chances of finding one are slim. A lunchbox locker is pretty cheap, and easy to install

yeah i have a chrysler 8.25 and going to upgrade to the ford 8.8 with a lunchbox locker! oh and by the way, What do you guys mean by l.s.d.?

most 4 cyl had the LSD, they needed all the help they could get . GC's also had them. Some limiteds with the tow pkg. All used the trac lok

With both wheels off the ground, rotate one side. If the opposite side rotates the same direction it is a LSD. If the other wheel rotates in the opposite direction, it is an open carrier.

The local pick a part here in Houston has all cars up on stands so the test can be done.

Or on a stock vehicle, look at the tag on a bolt from the diff cover.

Have a look at the diff cover and hope the tags are on it. This is a 96 Dana 35 with abs & lsd

LSD was always a factory Option in XJ. Never a "stock item+, if you have LSD it was added as an option by the original owner. That why you will see it decribed a some 4cy or some with tow package. I have never had a 4cy Jeep so IDK for sure. But I have had a couple ZJz and XJs. 93 ZJ Larado had every opti0n availabe, except limited paint and seats. My curent "Base model" XJ is factory equipt with sport paint and interior options, cloth seats and sound bar, roof rack, 8.25 and tow package, full set skids, ect.

With Jeeps the model can be meaningless, because they could be blt to suit, nearly all options available in all models. Only REAL difference between models being paint and interior.
