What's the most fuel (gallons) you've been able to put in your 20 gallon tank?

It always cuts off around 18 and 19 when i think i'm about to run out but one time i just kept topping off til i saw it at the nozzle and that was 21.3. I want to say that my manual also says it has a 20.5 or 21.5 gallon gas tank.

Yep buddy at work today told me his ran out of gas while he was punching in the code at the pump. It held 20.4 gallons. 2001 2WD.

I try not to run it past the 1/4 full mark so that I won;t stir deposits sinc eit is old and not sure how well was taken care of... but
built sheet says I have a 20 gal tank and the most I have put in it was 13 gal and that was with the needle just on the red mark....
seems strange to me but who can really trust these gauges anyway ;)

when i got mine it had a hole i the tank so i had to fill it up after i put a new tank in it...it took every bit of 20 gallons cause i had 4 5-gallon cans ready...since then i've filled up when i hit a 1/2 tank...my grandfather always told me it was cheaper to run on the top half of a tank and i figure also that gives me a reserve if i need it

My old 98 most i put in was right at 20.
my old 93 I ran it out once and put 22 in it but that was up to the cap.
Pops98xj's 98 I filled it up on the way back from DC once and put in a little over 20.

There are 2 different size gas tanks avaible on xjs one is a 20gal and the other is 15 i think.

There is a mod you can do to make the stock 20 gal hold more I will see if I can find it.

How many miles do you get to 1/2 tank? I do about 130 to 150 miles...

It is either a 13.5 gal tank or 20 gal.

I can get up to 200 on the 1/2 tank mark,but that is rare.That is with 31x10.50&3.55 gears.I still haven't corrected the speedo gear for correct mileage calculation.Get around to it sooner or later.

i get bout 180-200...filled up today and figured my milage at 19.87 mpg...my average over the last 3 months is 19.76 mpg...i'm sure once i get it lifted and tires on it that's gonna drop though...i usually take the back roads to town doing round 50 mph and rarely get on the interstate
