He said yesterday after he had found out about it, that everyone was ok. Luckly his son was there when it happened and was able to call 911.

By the pics, doesn't look like too much was damaged for a fire as was stated earlier.. Hopefully it will be easy enough to take care of whatever started it, and repair whatever was damaged by the fire.

WHen I had a fire last year up in dallas area the fire department got fined a hefty amount for excessive damage to overhaul the fine was then paid to our homeowners in the amount if 4800 dollars for extensive repairs... wanna see pics of what they did???
FIRST OFF I didnt get pics of the roof damage cause it was snowing but they cut a hole about 10 ft wide by 23 foot long in the roof and on the ceiling they cut a 6x12 hole... the fire was NOT in the attic at all it was BEHIND the fireplace basically an ember made its way through a bad seam on the flew and hit the wood frame work and just smoldered for a few hours... sad thing is, I was sitting within two feet of the fire the whole time just watching TV and had the fireplace goin on CHRISTMAS EVE

notice the beautiful wood floors... we installed those about three months prior... THROUGHOUT the WHOLE HOUSE, we renovated about 85% of this house with new flooring paint lighting furniture outlets baseboards appliances and a few other misc items over the summer prior to this happening ... we did a BUTT ton of work and these are the only pics I have of it

Yeah sorry guys. I've been sick for the past 3 days. I meant to include everyone was fine in the original post. I guess I wasn't thinking clearly.

It was electrical in nature and it occured in the oldest portion of the house. My parents house was a very simple one bed room that my Dad added on to over the years, which was complete before I was 9 years old.

The wiring in that part must have been 50 to 60 years old.

As much as I love older houses, that is the one things that scares me about purchasing one, is the age of the wiring... Glad that no one was hurt, and hope it will be easy enough to fix back up..
