Overhead Dome Light Question

I recently removed the door buzzer button so that I could open my doors with the key in the ignition and it wouldn't drive me crazy. Unfortunately, that also made the dome light stop coming on when I open my doors...

Is there any way to stop the buzzing but keep the dome light? Would it be easier to run a manual switch for the dome light (my XJ doesn't have one)?

Just put the switch back in. Open the door so you hear the buzz sound. Look under your dash and trace down where its coming from (i dont remember exactly where its at) and just unplug it.

The buzzer in mine looked like this. I just unplugged mine and threw it away.
