Hello;
My son has an 89XJ with a 4.0l and an AW4. The Jeep starts and idles fine, but when you get up to about 10 MPH it feels like someone deployed a parachute. Also the engine does not want to go above 1500 RPM. I was thinking fuel filter or fuel pump. Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks

It could be an exhaust issue as well, but I have a feeling it is somehow related to the sensors. Like CPS or CKS. Of course I remember one guy having a problem with not being able to get above idle and it was a bad ground strap to the engine.

I agree with Muddy Sounds like a clogged exhaust ,I'd check that first

X3 sounds a lot like banana in the tail pipe syndrome. probably a clogged up cat.
