Electrical problems are a pain....

Sounds to me like you have a short somewhere and when you depress the brakes, which activates the brake light switch then it is grounding the circuit and causing the no start issue. I do not think it is the brake light switch since it also happens in the run position without the brakes being pressed. I do believe though that the circuits are related... most likely sharing the same fuse.

A similar story....
On my wife's 97 Chevy S10 Blazer the interior lights would come on randomly.. after a lot of wire tracing it ended up being the lumbar switch in the driver's seat. It was grounding out on the seat frame as you rode or got in and out of the seat.

id check the brake light sockets make sure they are not melted/corroded and touching.

also check the ground on the brake lights.

Acting weird like this is usually pointing to a bad ground. Check them, and also the fusible links. The ignition switch runs off one of them, not the fuse block. My guess is that you are getting power fed backwards through the brake circuit and that when you hit the brake pedal, it takes what little power you are getting and puts it to ground. through the bulbs

Yeah I am still trying to figure out what the brake light (or switch) have to do with the start solenoid...

Do you have 93 FSM? If no, download from http://www.greatlakesxj.com/tech.html (http://www.greatlakesxj.com/tech/93fsm.zip) ; then unzip archive and open WIRING2.PDF. on Page 5 ignition switch and brake warning switch.

Morris 4x4 center (http://www.jeep4x4center.com/knowledge-base/index.htm#service) have some online manual, it seems:
- 1993
- 1996-2001
maybe you get something useful, :D
