hey, you can thank xj4iv for getting me to join here. My XJ history as follows.

I had a 89 2 door xj few years ago, 89 4.0 5spd d30/8.8 4.88 gears locked 6" short arm lift with 36" swampers.

that I ended up trading off for a j10 then sold that and ended up buying another 2 door. Paid $600 for it got it running good,

then pulled it in to the back yard gutted everything under the frame and test fit the new axles.

here it sits still needing driveshafts and brakelines.

Well I have questions. I have always been under the impression that the unibody could not handle the stress of front leaf springs. Did you have to do a lot of reinforcement to make it stronger? Secondly what type of steering have you put in to compensate for that front axle and those tires?

I plan on adding more structural support to the front frame rails later, right now it is a piece of 2x4 welded to the front cross member with some angle being used as gussets to the frame.

The steering uses the stock steering box with a heavy duty drag link and tie rod bolted to poison spider high steer arms. seems to move the 38s around just fine. The angles are perfect on the drag link so no bump steer either.

1aauto is a good place to know about. I got a new exhaust manifold that includes the gaket with lifetime warranty for 129 I think.

Sawzall diet seems to be working, jeep had lost a few pounds already.
