I've looked about and I don't see and "A" pillar attached light racks for the Cherokee. Anyone have any idea why? Seems like a better way to have roof lights, especially if you'd like to have a hoop, or loop around them. Easier to run the power as well. I dunno. Thoughts?

Part of the reason is the attachment. A lot of people don't like to drill into the body to attach stuff like that. On the Wranglers it attached to existing bolts/holes.

I figured the main reason is the Wrangler has a removable top.

Looks like I may have to give a look see to the wreak and see if I can bend up a plate. That or just exo the truck...lots of places to mount lights then.

Well I figure bolting to the A-pillar shouldn't be a big deal, I'm just surprised no one seems to have done it to an XJ.

I'm thinking of a plate on the cowl and running tube up and around. Might help with the dang trees that keep jumping out and smacking the windshield.

One thought comes to mind is that there is no flat surface on the A pillar. You will notice on the others there is nice sturdy nuts already there in the body. I am not sure you could get a good nutsert in the A pillar due to the curve. You would have to bolt top and bottom for anything decent.

Weld on a piece of angle iron...there is your flat surface.......hmmm ...new thought

I was thinking a bracket that was fitted to the "A-pillar". Perhaps with a backing that goes inside.

Wouldn't want to interfere with that snorkel some folks have though

A little tweaking and the snorkel thing could be addressed.
